Frank Lampard Thread

Frank better get back into form or he won't see the pitch.

Jokes aside, he could be one hell of a super sub.

I had forgotten FF was in this video.

With the way we played today, which of the following Designated Players would you prefer (knowing you would swap out a player for them)?

Daniele De Rossi (swapped for Andrew Jacobson)
Xavi Hernandez (swapped for Ned Grabavoy)
Tim Howard (swapped for Josh Saunders)
Martin Demechellis (swapped for Shay Facey)

These are all guys who have been rumored here at different times. I did not add a fullback or striker option because I haven't seen a fullback mentioned with us and we have 4 Strikers on the roster today.

Villa
Mullins
Nemec
Taylor
Shelton
Naglestad

I count 6.

Hmm thats tough, well one thing I want to see is if Poku is legit. I have heard a lot of good things and he looked really good vs St. Mirrens. Kreis sees him in training every week, does he think Poku can be a stud? If not, I say De Rossi. However if Poku is as impressive as he seems to be, I would say Xavi.

OK? I counted Taylor as a winger and Nagelstad won't be here on opening day. But sure, 6.

Question still stands. Who would you want?
It would have to be Xavi or De Rossi. Howard would be an awful waste of a DP spot and Demichelis (however much I love him) isn't someone who will win you games, and at 34 he's as much of a short term investment as Xavi.

I really like AJ in that 'Makelele role' and Poku looks a star in that position too, so I'll go for Xavi.

------------Jacobson
---Lampard-------Xavi
----------------Mix
--------Nemec----Villa

I still say DDR or Xavi. They have unique talents we can't buy elsewhere.

Demi would be a smart choice. But CB pairings are less about individual talent and more about chemistry with a partner. Ex: Mertesacker. He was on the Bundesliga worst 11 the year before going to Arsenal. But when paired with Koscielny in Arsenal's system, he is very effective. We can find a solid pairing, IMHO, without using a DP slot on it. Godin and Miranda were acquired for 6m pounds, with neither being expensive defenders before joining Atletico.

I wouldn't use the DP on a keeper unless it became apparent that keeper was a calamity position for us.

Sadly, I think DDR is a pipe dream. He said he would only leave Roma if they won the Scudetto or whatever the hell they call the thing.

I think we're missing a Forward who can hold up play. I'm bullish on developing Shelton. Mullins has strong physical gifts. But a guy who could play back to goal? Wow.

Would you rather have Poku up here riding the bench or in Wilmington playing 90 minutes?
Between those two options? Definitely playing 90 minutes in Wilmington. However, I think he has the ability to compete for a starting spot, but I think we also need him in here in the case of an injury as someone who can step in and play.

Do we have the ability to "call a player up?" So if Jacobson is the starter and he is out for two months, can we call in Poku?

Underrated guy today? Mendoza. Going to love him.
