Frank Lampard Thread

Yeah, I was disappointed with Nemec, too. The announcers were even trying to cover for him saying "Oh he just arrived at the team and hasn't had much time to train with them."

I won't throw him away based on one performance but I hope we see better from him.

Nemec was on the bench at his club in Germany. That's why he left. He hasn't played in quite some time so I do think he might be a little rusty

Yes. But unlike his teammates, he has been practicing for 6 months. These other guys just picked up training again 3 weeks ago.

True, but I'll give him 3 weeks with these boys before I get on his back. Maybe then he'll put that header away from the free kick by Alvarez

Nemec was a little rusty but you have to love the contrast in styles in our strikers. He's a big guy that can hold up play with his back to goal and will likely be a threat in the air off set pieces.

Getting back to Lampard, sounds like he's a little disappointed with only being a super-sub at Manchester.

From ESPNFC:
MANCHESTER -- Manuel Pellegrini says he sees Frank Lampard as an impact substitute now and defended his decision not to use the 36-year-old more.

Lampard has only made three Premier League starts for Manchester City and, while he was expected to figure more when Yaya Toure was away at the African Nations Cup, he has not begun a top-flight game since the first half of December.

City went to considerable trouble to keep Lampard for the second half of the season, bringing protests from supporters of their sister club New York City FC, who had expected the former England international to be available for the start of their inaugural MLS season.

But Pellegrini said that while Lampard has a bit-part role at the Etihad Stadium, he believes he is more dangerous when opposing defences are tiring.

The City boss denied the former England international is incapable of playing 90 minutes but added: "When the other teams have played 50 or 60 minutes, I think Frank makes more of a difference. His best moments of the season came as a substitute and he scores. I hope he continues in the same way."

and from a different article:

However, it remains to be seen how much of a role Lampard will play in the run-in, with boss Manuel Pellegrini saying this week that he views the midfielder as more of an impact substitute than a starter.

Lampard, 36, said: "At times maybe I've not had as many minutes as I'd want, even though you are aware as you get older you can't always do so much. I feel fit, I've scored some goals and been part of the team."

bright side is the less he plays the fresher his legs will be - would want no parts of 36 year old lamps playing full load of minutes over an entire epl season
