Frank Lampard Thread

How did Frank Lampard play in his 65 minutes today? (Tom makes a great point above about a DP not going a full 90 but I imagine the speed of play is higher in the EPL than MLS which factors into the decision to take him off; moreover, Man City has better bench options than does NYCFC).

If he can't play 90 in a game they are winning comfortably and are playing against 10 men, there is no way he can play 90 for us. We are wasting our 2nd DP spot on a sub.
On a sub that has burned us and doesn't want to be here.

I hope the legality of what they've done (false advertising) doesn't make it so he HAS to come here....but I fear it does...

You have been told this reportedly. His legs have gone for EPL but with the pathetic standard of mls defending he will still score 10/15 goals a season

There isn't a single game in this MLS season where Lampard will get more shots/ more time on the ball/ more clear cut opportunities as he did today when City had 43!!! shots. And he lasted 60 min and had 0 goals.

43 shots on a 10 man WBA and only 3 goals? I'd say thats the only pathetic thing here...

But then there's Frank.

And Manchester.

WBA came to park the bus ,which went a. Bit wrong when the ref sent the wrong man off ,on another day lampard would of scored what he did was neat and tidy and he played the 60 mins he was always going to.there is not a chance frank will do the full 90 anymore in the EPL .but he is still above the standard required for mls at this point in its development

My point is that he ran less today than would probably be required in the majority of MLS games. He had more time on the ball and less pressure. I know the quality of defending isn't the greatest in the MLS but Frank isn't playing on the back line, he is going to be pressed and pressed. If he can't last more than 60 minutes against a WBA team that is a man down, not pressing, and is outshot 43-3 then he isn't even going to last until half time in the MLS where he is going to be run off the field.

Frank has never ever had any pace in his career.what he has got and showed today is he has a superb football brain and has probably been the best ever to time his runs to the edge of the box and ghost in unmarked and get his shot away.the defenders ivr seen so far including NYC s in that ten mins before half time last Sunday when they could of conceded 3 pand all the other comedy goals and sendings off in other games will not have a clue how to mark him .

I'm aware of this. The thing is, City isn't Lampards first team, so many NYCFC fans that were Chelsea fans have watched him for the last 15 years or so. We know his strengths and weaknesses just as much as a City fan that has watched him sit the bench for most of the season. If you watched today's game, and I'm assuming you did, you would have seen that WBA's defenders also had no clue how to mark him. He was free on goal 2 or 3 times, and had another 5 or so shots that were terrible. Even though they couldn't defend him, like I agree most MLS defenders won't either, he still didn't score and still lasted only 60 minutes.

You keep saying how bad MLS defending is and how Lampard will exploit that, and multiple people have told you that there won't be a single MLS game as easy for Lampard as the game you just watched, yet hes didn't do anything and only lasted 60 minutes.

At this point I believe you're just a troll so I'm going to use my ignore function :)

How strange getting upset after agreeing with me ? I bow to your superior football knowledge of is it 6 games you have been to ? I must have no idea at all after going to not watching 100's of games every Saturday for the last 45 years.
Have a safe trip to Seattle tomorrow
Is there a clueless button I can press ?

Do the people of Manchester keep their stadiums whisper quiet so the players can concentrate?
Atmosphere at all prem games is sadly poor across the whole league.with some clubs know using recoded crowd sounds.ticket pricing no standing , no match day ticket sales don't help.go onto any prem clubs forum they are all debating what can be done to improve it .morinio has complained about Chelsea this season and the kop and Stretford end are a myth

This is a great site, but the level at which obvious trolls are tolerated is surprising. Pretty much anyone who persists with referring to NYC as "you" should be banned
When.you are talking to somebody you would use the term you.
I am not aware I have called NYC you ? Maybe you could show me ? Apologies in advance if I have

I'm going to have to give this post one Petke Sweater-vest for clinging to the one good result in years.

Its ok, you can keep it. Yer man was talking about the Lampard era, which includes that tournament.

Nice try though.

Looks like the Sheikh made a few calls. Paid off early. I don't think after Wednesday's display Pep wants to be anywhere near that. He'd have to wait through multiple transfer windows to get quality players to play his style. With your revenue not the same as the worlds top clubs, it's going to take forever.
