Does this mean we finally get a good stadium coat?

Didn't we used to have them?

wasn't able to find an updated version. everything available on the mlsstore seems light duty vs winter. tbf so does the one medina is wearing. would be nice to have a heavy down parka but they'd probably charge $400+ for it.

I hate to see how much more they work raises the prices on winter gear. The jackets are currently “meh” and around $200. The winter hats wish they were “meh” and they are $40.

We’re charge a lot for really crappy looking gear

I have a Man City winter coat that is excellent. Wore it all winter over a t-shirt and a flannel shirt and was totally warm. I did get out the down jackets when we hit single digits a few times but otherwise this coat was fine. Has a really good hood as well.

It's not a puffy coat like Medina's, which in my humble opinion looks like it came from a discount store. Was not necessarily inexpensive, really the only drawback, but not outrageously priced either. That's the sort of thing we need—a well made, warm, "normal" winter coat.

Agreed, I think it's an MLS/Adidas problem. NYCFC has no good merchandise except for the few capsule drops from outside designers. We want good gear to wear to matches and every other day. Weather at home matches can be everything so we need merchandize for everything and people will buy good products, but we don't get it. We never get the player issued merchandise anymore or the few items that go on sale are only at the team store and they have like 2-3 of each size. It's laughable. And that Antigua brand on Fanatics that just stitches the logo onto anything isn't good.

Our less than stellar lineup is still the only team to have stolen points from Messiami. On the road no less.

This is how we do it against Miami since Messi showed up. Every game ends 1-1 except we won the friendly, which is worth including because Miami was very keen on getting Messi a goal in that game.

DateLocationResult
9/20/23Miami1-1
11/10/23Miami (friendly)2-1 NYC
3/30/24Miami1-1
9/21/24Yankee Stadium1-1
2/22/25Miami1-1

Miami averages just over 2 goals a game against the rest of MLS while NYC has never conceded 2 goals in one game. I predicted this within the first month Messi showed up:
I honestly think NYCFC will handle Miami better defensively than any club has so far, and unless someone else figures it out before us they will be ill equipped to handle it. Of course their stars can pull magic out of their ears but every team so far has kind of collapsed. Even Dallas.
I don’t think we will. For all the offensive flaws I think Cushing is a very strong defensive coach and we’ll be better set up than any team so far at least.
I think defense has been the under appreciated through line of NYCFC since 2016. It's been better some years than others. I did a post on that a few months ago. Still, despite occasional lapses (being human) the team is consistently organized on defense year after year and under a coaching carousel. The staff and players always pull it together against Miami. It's a shame the only win is the friendly, but we always manage a result and never fall apart against Messi and friends.
