General MLS Discussion

It's bad enough our match got scrubbed, but there isn't even a decent match to watch tonight.
This is only sort of responsive, but I found my interest in MLS generally tanked in mid-2023 when it became clear how bad NYCFC was, and it has never really recovered. I think it might revive if we ever get back to competing to finish at or near the top of the conference, but right now it's dead. I just can't generate interest in the league's best when NYC is clearly not one of them, and I've zero interest in watching the teams sitting 6-10 in the standings in the hope that they falter and we climb up to the top of mediocrity.

That's a fair opinion.

As I've mentioned a few times I love watching matches from the west coast. For whatever reason they're more entertaining than matches from the eastern conference. Even the teams that aren't very good (San Jose, Portland, etc) more times than not seem to put on a good show. And for no other reason than FYI, the Galaxy finally seem to be putting it back together and with Puig getting ready to return could go on a run. Probably too late in the season to make the playoffs, but they'll be another fun team to watch.

Red Bulls steal one (in their own stadium lol) in second half added time on a dodgy penalty call. Shame.

But they are still 2 points behind us and we have two games in hand 😃

I have never seen a level of incompetence anything close to what the ref showed in the last few minutes of that game.

Went to the RSL game tonight. 😉 That was some really rough reffing. My first energy drink game, and it is quite empty tbh. They could maybe fill the lower bowl with everyone? I’m very excited for Eithad park to be full for every game and show them up.

Reminds me of that bullshit handball call on Chanot back in the day with a 90+11' PK. Elfath was the referee.

That's my feeling as well. If everything else remained static I'd love to see us leapfrog over Charlotte and Miami into the 6th spot.
We'd have a chance against Nashville and then Cincinnati.

Photos of Martin’s return to training have raised my hopes that we can finish the season strong and possibly climb the table. However, with Parks still out and no signs of another quality winger arriving, we remain a long way from being a serious contender.

Tough to see us get past Philly, Orlando, or Columbus in this scenario, without a major infusion.

If you have purchased your seats in the new stadium, you’re signing a contract that has language in it that you understand the schedule is changing and it will
Impact the move date.
  1. More likely it's written to give them flexibility because they disclosed a possibility.
  2. If they do flip the schedule it isn't guaranteed to happen by 2027.
  3. I agree with you they probably will flip the schedule. It's more a question of when than if.
I don't think this tidbit from Paul Tenorio was posted here before:
"But the board is behind [a schedule flip]. One source told The Athletic that an unofficial straw poll conducted here indicated as many as 27 of 30 owners in favor of the change."

I'd also like to know whether there are any undisclosed cold weather mitigation options buried in the stadium plans.
