Home 05/15 - Chicago

well now that we occasionally send crosses near and in the box he might be good for us. I also just want to see him go all viking crazy one day and eat someone on the other team ... yes I realize vikings probably didn't eat people but it's a fun image.

So sad that last night was their first sellout of the season and only 15th in the history of their stadium. God I can't wait for us to get our own stadium and sell that shit out every game.

Seriously. Credit for their tifo last night, which was pretty well done, but it took them 13 years to get a SSS and they didn't have a sellout all year until we came to town. Even BWP commented on how they never get that kind of support at home.

I would like to remind them that this is what the back of the net looks like just in case they forgot. #DONTMAKEMELOOKLIKEAMETSFAN

so nobody's going to admit that an unsurprisingly atrocious defense was at least TWICE as atrocious against red bulls without jeb brovsky?

we gonna stick to this myth that jeb brovsky is a shit player when he usually looks more alive than the entire midfield and makes more chances from the wings, makes bolder tackles in clutch situations and 1v1s, and maintains 90 minutes of stamina better than any other defender we've got?

He's better than Williams on the right. Behind Calle and Allen on the left. I think most people have softened their criticism of brovsky, with at least one very international exception.

If I recall, Accam killed us down our right side in the last Chicago match. Interesting to see who Kreis goes with there. I agree that Williams is poor. We really need some pace at both right and left back.

I wouldn't say "killed", he got a cheap goal, and they couldn't score up a man. Accam is very good though, better than brovsky, but he is better then most RBs on the league

Even though I put Calle and Allen in as my fullbacks in my preferred lineup, I wonder if that's giving up too much defensively down the wing. Allen played surprising well in distributing going forward, including some good balls in, but got completely eaten up by Sam. According to whoscored.com, 47% of the Red Bulls attack came down his side of the field, which is a super high number.

Allen looked like a spark, but he has some pretty clear deficiencies. If Calle's on one side, might need someone a little bit more defensive minded on the other. Maybe depends on matchup.

I agree. Probably the best hope is to have Calle at LB pushing up and putting dangerous balls into the box. Then, have the RB sit back so the defense can rotate across when the ball gets behind Calle. Or, have Jacobson sit really deep. Long term, we really need some pace on the wings. That's the beauty of NYRB - technical quality in the middle of the pitch and real speed on the outside.

Jacobson already sits really deep, he always shows up behind our fullbacks in the heat maps. I agree with having the balance though.

Nope. Brosky still sucks. I don't even rate Allen. CFG should be ashamed to send a check to either of those guys.

Players who are worth a shit don't lose their spot on the worst team in the league, then go on loan to Tippeligan (sp) where they make 3 appearances.
