Is anyone else hoping that Rony has been secretly working on an attacking scheme for weeks that he was waiting to roll out in this CCL game?

its weird.....for some reason i get that vibe from him. like he feels like the league is in the backburner for now and the CCL is the focus

If that's the case, then why play our strongest lineup? That makes even less sense. I think Ronny is just lost tactically and MLS is a lot better than he expected.

who knows, but if they didnt play it would be 10 days with no minutes for some of them. thats worse.

the latter can be true also.

also just FYI, apparently RBA or NYCFC ( dont know who decides this) allocated 650 tickets to the tigres away fans but of course im sure there are others who bought in other sections.

EDIT: a couple of tigres fans on twitter preferred Yankee stadium ...lol i guess since its more known stadium even if its for baseball.

There is one possibility that solves 2 riddles. I'm not saying this is likely what he's doing but we'll see. But what if Deila doesn't think Medina is part of the best 11? Maybe he plays him against San Carlos because they're weak, and Taty and/or Isi aren't fully match fit. Then he keeps playing Medina in MLS because he's a rotation player, and he's saving those guys for CCL. Chanot forced additional rotation bringing in Parks and Ronnie figures that's enough and everyone else can handle 2 games on 3 days full rest (Toronto and Tigres), and the more complete rotation will come against Dallas.

Medina being the only rotation player against 'weak' and early MLS opponents isn't enough. If he was going that route, then rotate more players. Play Zelalem instead of Maxi. Also, if he's tryin to give Taty and Isi match fitness, Taty wouldn't have started and played the whole 2nd game vs san carlos and Isi would have had more minutes by now.

It'd be great if Ronny were scheming that much but I think, in this case, the simple answer fits the best. Either he's just not that capable or his tactics are too confusing for a roster that speaks mostly spanish. lol.

MLS's (Herc Gomez's specifically) predictions for CCL:

he ranks us lower than montreal and atl is least likely to advance simply cause josef is injured.

Have to imagine that's a CCL requirement. Same as MLS has that requirement for regular season games.

yea - the 650 tickets is what was given to Tigres as a club, to sell to their supporters. But that doesn't stop any of their supporters from buying tickets on another marketplace. I'd assume any supporters in the NYC area, or those already in the US willing to drive to NJ, would have gone to ticketmaster instead of through Tigres. Crooks believes NYCFC supporters will vastly outnumber Tigres supporters. Let's hope he's right.

from my snooping around twitter etc ......about 40 in the nyc based tigres group. i think some of them got section 129 ...... in a thread they make it sound 15 ish or so come from indiana, there are some coming from chicago, and North Carolina. still nothing from houston which i assumed was the biggest contingent. from actual monterrey there are i think only up to like 30 ish ( a few of them are literally driving from there here)

FYI if anyone is looking for tickets it looks like they released more seats and was able to grab the two I needed!

I just looked on ticketmaster and they have seats in sections 111 and 108. I thought the entire lower bowl was already sold out? Strange indeed.

"Nicolás López returns to the call in Tigres. Travel to New York for the Quarterfinal Round against the NYCFC. Those who do not go are Diego Reyes, Jorge Torres Nilo and Damm. "

diego reyes has been trash for a while, Torres Nilo may be a bad loss for them. Damm cant cross but at least hes fast

Weird. When I checked yesterday, it was completely sold out hence my post. Then I checked earlier this morning and there were seats and I got two. Even got the confirmation email. Not sure what they're doing over there at the front office...

They didnt open 108-111 as of that moment. They just opened 108 and 111. 109 and 110 still not open. Also , 133,101-103 and half of 104 was not opened.

How can they claim the entire 10k is sold out if they didn't open all the seats for sale?

Nope. Sold out. That was yesterday. Even sonastride said he/she couldn't see tickets

Hold up. Hold up.
Glenn Crooks said 8k are sold. Which makes sense, regarding the 108-111 + standing section missing. He then makes that update, but nowhere mentions the club said it's sold out, he just said so himself. I think he just opened ticketmaster like the rest of us and saw no tickets available.

He even states in his prosoccer article that the game is sold out. Pretty irresponsible of him as a journalist to say these things if he didn't have inside and correct information.
