Is Tr Prepping A Tifo For Sunday?

they hired professional artists to come in and help them, one of the artists even tweeted about it something along the line of "so appreciative of the oc supporters that they let me design and help paint their first mls tifo"

yep. dont want to say anything to OC yet though. let them criticize it on Sunday (feel like they cant resist when it comes to anything nycfc or its supporters do), and then we retort how at least ours was our own and not some mercenary job.

Damn, dude. It was supposed to be a secret! But I guess I can post it now that the cat's out of the bag.

Can I get that on a hat?

What are the restrictions on design for Yankee Stadium. Also, re the restrictions on size, will our TIFO never match that of Portland or Seattle?

I'm a little worried that the tifo won't be very visible due to the layout of the supporters section. There's no section of seats above it to hang the tifo from and the bleachers section is a bit flat (not much of an incline). The opposite side of the field (1st base side) has multiple levels of seating and would work nicely to get a more vertical drape for the tifo. Still, I'm very excited to see the 1st NYCFC/Third Rail tifo in action this Sunday!!

I'm directly across the field from the supporters section. I'll try to grab a good photo of it.

Will the Mohegan Sun sports bar be closed for NYCFC matches? If so, could they drape the TIFO over that? If not, for future matches, could Third Rail use the frieze or 400 section to unfurl the TIFO and secure it?

I think the thing is We Have the Artist.
I'm a Graphic Designer and could have designed something. I'm also a specialist in these type of Odd projects. I could have designed it on a 8x10 and made it so they could scale it easy onto the Large format.
I'm sure there's Plenty of others that have the talent and ability and would love to help.

Maybe next Tifo haha :)

Awesome. TIFO is probably the hardest thing to do well; the more talented people contributing, the better. I hope you get involved in future efforts (although I can ensure you it will have to be scaled to a much, much larger format.

I hope the tifo is about us and not a shot at RB.
It is definitely about us. I personally think that TIFO should always be about our team, not straight up attacking another team or supporter group. You can make both work at the same time.

Does anyone know the origin of the 1st design? Will there be "words" that accompany the design and if so, do we know the message that will be conveyed?
Yes. I think they want to keep it more or less secret, but it will have a simple message.

yea, we don't want to give anything away at this point, would dilute the whole purpose of having a grand unveiling. and having it draped elsewhere, like by the mohegan bar, or up on the frieze, or over by 1st base side, I dunno, then its not in the supporters section, which is where every other TIFO gets unfurled - also I can see YS powers saying a big fat 'No' to that idea. We had to get this TIFO approved by them before we could even start working on it - a big reason why ours will never be on Timbers or Sounders scale is the fact we have to get their approval, something I doubt TA and ECS have to worry about. Also I bet they will never approve anything too 'edgy.' Yankees are as bland as unflavored ice milk when it comes to stadium experience nowadays...this coming from a life long fan.

I think there are some ideas in the works to try and involve more of the stadium in future displays, along the lines of color panel mosaics and the like. but again, will YS approve? who knows.

I 2nd SFphoto: its about us, and there are some words. I definitely think tifos taking shots, in a tasteful, clever way, at our close rivals (philly, RB, DC, revs in future) could work.

And SharkGuy, are you TR? if so, you gotta speak up about your talents to Billy and Co. They definitely are looking for several more TIFOs throughout the season for certain games.

Totally. I LOVE this tifo that Revs supporters did for a game against the Crew.

I am a TR Member and True / Fair enough it's my own fault. I'm active on Twitter, but I'm going to make sure I'm on the FB Page. I'd love to help with a NJ Rockstars / Monsters or a Disney Kingdom SC Tifo :)

Did look great. What does tifo stand for? Never heard of it before.
