JERSEY RELEASE???

I think a big point that we may be overlooking is the fact that CFG sees the US as the growth engine. There isnt a whole lot more they can do to grow the MCFC club. The real growth and new dollars will come from the US, they will not be doing anything to retard the growth of NYCFC, its the future cash cow. When the M

I think part of that is Melbourne had a history with the Heart and they threw them a bone to preserve a bit of their past tradition, we on the other hand are a blank slate
This is the most ignorant thing I've read in a while. Clearly you have no knowledge of MCFC & their rapidly growing profile, both financially & in popularity. Isn't a whole lot more they can do to grow MCFC? Lay off the drugs

But there are those faithfuls who do know and follow soccer abroad, this is a global city. Yes, we have Manchester City ownership, but we would also be showing those folks who don't know who Manchester City are to follow us instead of Manchester City.

I am sure they could have employed Marketing and Fashion Gurus to work on a jersey that reflected that, not just a clone of Manchester City jersey. They could have gone to the fashion district, grab a few up and coming fashion desginers, marketing sharks that want their name out there and gotten a better jersey.

All I am saying is this make us look like Manchester City Jr. We are trying to show we are under a group, but that we are Jr. After this whole talk of us being unique, this Jersey doesn't show it.
We have to remember the process and what is possible. Jersey's are all done by Adidas with templates.

Yep. Club contributes, but not a whole lot the club can do. I've been wondering how much of this is just yet another awful Adidas design. Adidas is the worst, they really are.

After letting it all set in, I gotta say, the overreaction is CRAZY. We all knew what we were getting into when the team was announced via CFG. We KNEW there would be some tie ins. I think that if we have to endure one jersey that looks like the MCFC kit in order to have a team, that's a pretty good deal.

That kit isn't creative, but it's clean and classic. I would take it over half of the TERRIBLE creations that currently exist in MLS (RSL, KC, SEA, CHI, etc). We still have our away kit to look forward to. I think they are going to nail a unique NYC look, I really do.

Yes. We have a team. I won't stop supporting them, but I look forward to more unique away Kit

By the way, does anyone actually dislike the kit itself apart from the Manchester City connections? If it's a fine looking kit by itself, then realize that you'll probably feel better about it tomorrow and will forget you cared when NYCFC kicks off.

OK which market is poised to grow more in the next 10 years? BPL or MLS? MLS has aspirations of overtaking BPL in the long term and there is no reason they cant being the US market is the biggest market. Now even if they do grow MCFC where is that growth coming from? USA? ding ding correct. Look at the new BPL tv contracts in the US. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to realize that the US has the largest undeveloped soccer audience in the world. THIS is the market that represents the future of soccer growth. A developed nation of 300 million people with one of the best economies in the world that has'nt scratched the surface of their soccer potential yet. If you cant see that sir, then you are not just ignorant but plain stupid

That would be in the very, very, very, very, very, VERY long term lol.

The BPL will continue to be, BY FAR, the largest and fastest growing league in the world in 10 years. MLS doesn't have a shot of reaching the popularity and quality of the Premier League.

This is an away kit, again from this season; not the home shirt which is what I was commenting on. Look through traditional MCFC HOME kits, and tell me when dark blue has been a large part of it.

You said There isnt a whole lot more they can do to grow the MCFC club. I call extreme bullshit on that statement. And MLS isn't even a pimple on the EPL's ass in terms of growth, popularity and worldwide appeal at this time.

At first I was happy because I liked the jerseys, but then I became pissed that they look like MCFC shirts and I hate MCFC. Then I got happy because they look like Lazio shirts and I love Lazio. But then I got pissed again because they look like Uruguay jerseys and I hate Luis Suarez. Then I got happy again, because they look like North Carolina jerseys and I love MJ. I bet you can guess what happened next! I hated then again because why should we share an identity with Gremio in the Brazilian league. I don't want people thinking were Gremio clones! But then I realized, why wouldn't I want to wear a shirt that looks just like the third shirt of one of the classiest teams in the world, Inter Milan. Then my friend pointed out that the Jersey is a shameless knockoff of FC Zenit, a joke of an organization that is embarrassing itself in the Champions League this year, so I got pissed again.

But then I remembered that I liked the look of the jersey, so I think I'm just going to settle on happy.

Best reaction ever

And moves like today sure don't help.
Whereas I see the reasons as to why the kit is like it is, Adidas template, full MLS adidas kits; but what I don't understand is, why does it have to be SO similar to us (as an English MCFC fan).

The way I look at it, in the US you have Walmart and here in the UK we have Asda Walmart. DO they both have the same branding, no? Over here, Asda is light green, Walmart is Blue? (correct me if i'm wrong). Although it isn't the best analogy, and a strange one at that, surely there has to be branch recognition (to put it simply).
If CFG want to have different branches, then doesn't each team need to have their own touch. Say, MCFC light blue and white, NYCFC light blue, dark blue hint of orange and something else for Melbourne?

Great post, and just for fun I found the jerseys you mentioned so we can compare. We're screwed, we look like too many teams that already exist. What to do!
