this IS about the jersey. I've asked the Everton supporter what his views are on his club sharing colors with a host of other clubs, as it seems that isn't allowed. I've yet to hear his response, not surprisingly.
I understand your right to an opinion. What in your opinion would make the jersey acceptable? I'm asking honestly. And please don't use the tired old "NYC identity" answer unless you can be specific, while at the same time telling me what NYC identity Yankees, Giants, Jets, Nets & Rangers have in their jerseys.I already gave my response, well before you asked the question. There is a clear, qualitative difference between sharing colors with a parent club and sharing colors with another team in the same league (Even if the teams seem to share a good transfer relationship, which is what I assume you meant about me being ignorant of club ties). That is just my observation of a fact.
Frankly I have no opinion on Everton sharing colors with Chelsea or Leicester. It is a non-issue. Then again, my arguments were never against the sky blue color of the kit. I was disappointed by the derivative/boring design, not the color.
In the end, I guess these are just the opinions of an "ignorant" person in need of education, so feel free to respond with another red herring, strawman, or personal attack.

I've said this in various threads, but it comes down to that orange stripe. I know its a minor detail, but it is a detail which says this is an NYCFC kit, not a MCFC kit. Other than that stripe, yeah it could be the MC kit. Other than the one orange stripe in that sky blue home kit I keep posting (and maybe the navy stripes too) it could be an MC kit. But making an actual design element of the kit orange says, no, this is an NYCFC kit.
Kits that are extremely close to MCFC with some minor changes to indicate NYCFC would be fine with me. If you pulled the shirt we got off the production line before the patches were added and slapped on a patch for MCFC, Melbourne, Yokohama, or whatever South American club they buy next, no one would know that it started out meant for NYCFC.
Which ultimately I think was the plan for CFG, to have teams around the world playing in the same kit with different badges. Personally, I hate that idea. Not because its CFG, but because I think it always looks tacky. It doesn't work for Red Bull and it wouldn't work for us. What I hope they learn from this, combined with the Melbourne Heart hoopla, is that local supporters don't want to be just another generic name in the CFG portfolio. We want some concession to our own identity. There is room for CFG to make small, but significant, design choices that reflect the local team and still fit into the broad CFG aesthetic.
Adding details like an orange stripe would also show that they give a shit about the design of the local team, which this jersey does not do for me. You of all people should know how long it would have taken them to plug MCFC colors into an Adidas template. There is nothing about this kit that suggests they really thought about the details of making a kit. They went with broad strokes and yeah, it looks fine, but it lacks that individual element that a few minor details could have given it.
I'll take that as a compliment. It is a necessity on this forum. Too many jerks that ruin the content of the good posters.
Can I like this twiceWhat you call bashing, I call educating the ignorant. And there is an abundance of ignorance on this forum regarding club ties.
