FFP is bullshit in the first place it's just designed to protect the traditional powers like United and Real and Barca. I'd either like to see an actual salary cap of some short that effects everyone's spending or just complete laissez faire

Give them David Villa? That is just beyond stupid. If CFG announced Villa AND Lampard for NYCFC then they spent time in Manchester rather than NYCFC, I think the entire team would have crumbled due to the media and fan blowout.
Guy definitely seems to think the other CFG teams exist to serve as farm clubs /satellites of MCFC, We of course strongly object to this.

I haven't done much reading into the consensus on the penalty, but I'm surprised that there wasn't more of the "he got the ball but didn't change its direction therefore Sterling would have gotten to it if CCV didn't take him down" perspective. Which was my own.

It's probably the American in me (the fact we don't do it at the pro level only college) but I hate the idea of points deductions or tournament bans etc. I'm fine with fines and maybe transfer bans. I don't love teams being able to buy success the way they can in European football but I don't think financial fair play actually addresses this. It just shifts the balance of power back to the traditional huge clubs that have built up global followings and finances over time. The only true fair balancing of things would be an actual salary cap.
FFP is just a mechanism for the old guard to compete with the new guard as they don't want to want to spend the billions of cash reserves the new guard owners have. If you can sustain losses due to other profitable business holdings (oil, etc.) then why should UEFA stop you?
No, it’s a mechanism to have some level of fair playing field where teams perform within their means, not suckling at the proverbial teat of another industry.
That’s not possible across a myriad of leagues in different countries all with different economies and laws. FFP allows the playing field to be set within the self-sustaining mechanisms that a club produces.
Then what lion said is correct. FFP is flawed from a competitive standpoint. Sure, it puts a barrier against mega oil money coming in or piling debt for players, but it ruins the integrity of the game by essentially forcing a different budget for different teams playing in the same competition, and by different, I mean the established mega clubs can spend way more than everyone else in perpetuity.
