Man City Discussion

They got creamed. The edifice is crumbling before our eyes.

Brooklyn Blue had it spot on. They're missing Rodri and DeBruyne, and desperately.

they are missing rodri, yes. but this team has enough talent on it to play much better than they have. their mentality is broken, which is understandable after being champions for so many years in a row. you can see players giving up. not running as hard to get back, etc. they lost their mojo and it'll take more than just rodri to get it back.

Agreed. One returned player, or two, won't be enough, even if both are who they've been. And I have serious doubts about DeBruyne especially ever truly returning to elite status.

It could just be a simple matter of them being a spent force for the moment. It happens.

Maybe Pep isn’t good enough for NYCFC.

Pep indicating it will be six months before he’s announced as NYCFC manager.

It looks like we won't be grooming strikers for the Mothership any time soon.

Holy cow. Haaland knots it at 1 all in the 55' only to see Partey put Arsenal back in front a minute later.

5-1 final. I must be a jinx for City, because every time I've sat down to watch them this season they've been blown off the pitch.

Another late-match defensive short circuit for City, this time in the Champions League, and Real Madrid takes the first leg of the tie 3-2. It's pretty wild to see Man City so vulnerable these days. Pep looked ... forlorn at the end of this one. Just at a loss.

city bossed most of the game. the defensive short circuit was because akanji got injured and rico lewis just isn't good enough. add to that, an unforced, stupid mistake by ederson and there you go.

they need a proper right back. sign me up pep! lol

I said this months ago and I think people thought I was joking, but it's been about 18 years since we saw Pep coach without a top 5 world class roster. For all his success and soccer IQ: I'm not sold that he's a lock to succeed in MLS if he comes here.

I don't think he is capable of being a bad coach, but is he ready to start a journeyman left back making $200k, selling his top scorer in the middle of a season, or simply dealing with a roster where only a handful of players have a extraordinary soccer IQ? Maybe we'll find out. I wouldn't bet against him. But I would not assume success either.

They could use you, moogoo. They're struggling. You don't see Man City lose a Champions League match at home very often to begin with, but definitely not up 2-1 with 10 minutes to go.

According to Fotmob, Madrid more than doubled their xG, almost doubled their shots and tripled their big chances, too. I thought the match was a lot more even than the stats say, but truth is, Pep had them set up to contain the counter and they just couldn't do it.

Fun game to watch, though. Very back-and-forth.

what a disappointing performance by city today. no creativity, no real urgency, completely wide open in the midfield. pep is putting his trust in players who just aren't up to it. game isn't even over yet and there is zero sign of city mounting any type of comeback.

Commentators talking about end of an era. RM really did make them look a shell of a team.
