Mid-season Inter-cfg Friendly

The fact that these threads garner more discussion and attention than new signings, invites to camp and our preseason in general is sad and speaks for itself. I mean we did an interview with a fucking player and hardly any fucks were given. It just goes to show that the majority of you will be there to drink and shout and come here to bitch and whine.
I think very few fucks are given about this team as a whole and the complimentary pkayers

Some common sense from our fearless leader!

I agree with you, but on forums the nature of argumentive threads always garner more response than something everybody agrees on.

I don't think there is anybody here that isn't thrilled about the Matt Dunn interview, and doesn't appreciate that the site was able to do that. But how much discussion can there be if everybody is in agreement with how awesome it is?

MCFC have played in Yankees Stadium the past two years so it can't surprise or upset anyone that they would be coming here to play again. I do agree that these friendlies during the season are absurd. NYCFC need to concentrate on the league. Let MCFC play some other European club for training.

I feel where you are coming form Dan, I can only speak for myself I hope we can do more interviews here and such. That's I really hope Man City and Frank Lampard dont come, so the focus can be on our team not he UK one. Maybe if They scrap this idea of coming here we can get back to talking about the upcoming season.

I totally, totally disagree. I'm very excited for some of the new guys, and I'm pumped as hell for the season to start.

But I think it's unreasonable to ignore the fact that this Lampard situation is pretty clearly the headline, both within the club and outside the club, for this club's inaugural year. I don't see a realistic situation in which it wouldn't be.

I get that (along with a portion of the board here) you're ready to move on, and I totally hear you. It's been analyzed from all sorts of angles, and there has been news on other fronts that merits discussion.

But they've continued to let the Lampard issue fester instead of attempting to close that rift, and this potential "friendly" is just another sign that they don't even intend to put a bandage on it. That's news, and it's honestly very upsetting.

I'm very excited for the season to start, and I look forward to cheering on Villa and the crew. But christ - I can't just ignore all the crap that went on just three weeks ago. I know it's seemed like ages, but they lied to us three weeks ago, Dan. Still no apology or admission of a real issue from the club. The fact that this club hasn't really made an effort to fix the broken relationship with founding members is pretty damn concerning, whether they've put some nice complementary pieces together or not.

I'm excited for the first game, and I think the team made some fantastic moves over the last month.

But the Lampard deal is going to be the defining moment for this club's first season, whether we want it hanging over the club or not. It just is, and I think expecting anything else is just setting up for frustration.

The same as was said before, wait till it comes from the club. There's no dates available in May after BPL season is over as they're all Yankee games and mcfc sure as hell won't play during their last 3 weeks of premier league

But there's nothing to really analyze. We see videos and photos, but there's no reporters there telling us "Oh, x is looking good. Y is struggling, you might see z move into a position" that we can dissect and debate. Other than reposting what's been posted by the team, what's there to do?

As far as the interview, I loved reading it. I think the "post a question" thread got a good response. But there wasn't much to say after the interview other than "awesome! thanks!" What were we going to go, start tearing the guy's answers up? Just because we don't devolve into an argument thread doesn't mean we don't appreciate and care about what's going on.

There's nothing to move on from though. We were told when he will be here and that he will be here. It's a matter of that day coming now. All you're doing is stressing yourself out and focusing on something aside from the players that ARE here and ARE committed for the next 5 months of your life.

It's a matter of accepting and not accepting. I accept it but some chose not to. But I'm not going to join the rest of the MLS in making a mockery of the club I CHOOSE to support by booing a team that will play a role in the success of my club.

There's nothing to move on from? Seriously? I'm not trying to be rude, but you don't see an issue with how it was handled?

That's what I get from "There's nothing to move on from." Again, not trying to be rude, but I really don't think that's accurate.

I love seeing how worked up people got about Frank. I hope their passion actually translates to supporting the club when we play and isn't about just complaining here, even if it's justified to a point,

No because wether you move on or not HES STILL HERE. So if you read the rest of what I posted which I doubt you have to accept or not accept. He's not leaving so yes, it's not possible to move on.

I did read your posts, Dan. I just don't agree.

His arrival date is less of an issue than the dishonesty about the agreement throughout the entire process. I don't like being lied to, and I really don't think that's unreasonable. And yes, that requires resolution - it's not just something that you drop.

Again, I'm not trying to be rude, man. I know you do a ton of work to keep this site running - fact's not lost on me. The Dunn feature was really cool.

It just appears we fundamentally disagree on whether this issue still merits discussion. That's cool, but I really don't agree that continued fervor for the Lampard debacle means many of us don't care for the club in its entirety. I'm pretty sure those who were just here to bitch about Lampard have all left.

This line of thought from the MCFC supporting crowd is utterly disgusting and offensive.

Ya know, I've never questioned the allegiance of a MCFC supporter that also supports NYCFC even though they make it clear often that the order of said allegiances probably doesn't have NYCFC at the top.

But to have them question us as fans? Unreal....

I really don't expect you to agree with me because I own the site. I'm here to voice my opinion just like every other member.
Dan I think it more towards the lines that there are NYC fans who root for both teams and there fans who only root for one of them. The NYC only fans are less likely to forgive MCFC/CFG/Lampard and play nice with the "we are family" angle. I think lots of us want the focus to be purely on NYC, this doesn't help that and we are still upset with the way CFG and both front offices handled this. In the end those of us who aren't MCFC fans would see this as a opportunity to voice our displeasure with there role.

Dan, I'd rather let the NYCFC blow off the steam about Lampard at a meaningless friendly then when Lampard takes the field for a meaningful MLS match. it's a great opportunity to let the fans who are rightfully angry about that whole deal and about Lampard's decision to let all the parties involved have it. Bad press for MCFC who are trying to expand their brand with these tours is something that will get attention, and it can't come in a better venue for NYCFC.

He's not going to be there. IF and a big IF this is true then he won't be there. It's after their season. Won't be on contract. He'll be on his mandatory 1 month rest before joining us.
Won't be in May either and if it is won't be in Yankee stadium. Their season ends the 25th I believe and we have a game the 30th.

Him not being there would be worse. He's not stupid; if he took the field AGAINST mcfc that would send a great message that he's here now and ready to be for NYCFC.

And do we know he's not going to be on contract? I think it's clear we have no idea what Lamps actual contract status is.
