Agreed, that *is* interesting. What if Mix wasn't banished but was instead asked by the club to essentially sit out the year as we already had too many midfielders? He could walk back in next season as if nothing ever happened, stepping into Lampard's role except not taking up a super valuable DP spot. And that frees up that DP for a Kompany-like player, say. Not demanding we get Kompany, but a DP defender could possibly help a lot.Frank's last line is interesting - respect for Mix this year?!? Considering the banishment, that sounds like a real show of solidarity, otherwise there'd be no need to sugarcoat it.
Not saying this is true or anything as it's based on nothing of course, but if Mix is in our starting lineup on opening day remember I said it. He could just as easily be traded away or chosen in the expansion draft and we'd save a ton on the cap, of course, but having him still be a valued team member for next year could explain all the weirdness around him this year.
