Mikkel "Mix" Diskerud [Midfielder]

Frank's last line is interesting - respect for Mix this year?!? Considering the banishment, that sounds like a real show of solidarity, otherwise there'd be no need to sugarcoat it.
Agreed, that *is* interesting. What if Mix wasn't banished but was instead asked by the club to essentially sit out the year as we already had too many midfielders? He could walk back in next season as if nothing ever happened, stepping into Lampard's role except not taking up a super valuable DP spot. And that frees up that DP for a Kompany-like player, say. Not demanding we get Kompany, but a DP defender could possibly help a lot.

Not saying this is true or anything as it's based on nothing of course, but if Mix is in our starting lineup on opening day remember I said it. He could just as easily be traded away or chosen in the expansion draft and we'd save a ton on the cap, of course, but having him still be a valued team member for next year could explain all the weirdness around him this year.

Or not. Who knows? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wish you were correct. I just don't see how given that he wasn't even on the bench.

As to Ulrich Ulrich 's point, I think Frank was just saying he respected the way he handled the situation. I don't know what, if anything, we could impute to that. Could be "man, sorry you had to go through that bullshit" or "I'm going to post something neutral because you publicly stayed cool even though we all know your sorry ass deserved to be banished". Or it could be just what he said - "way to be a pro" absent of any value judgment elsewhere.

The thing is, why even say it at all if it's one of the latter two interpretations. So while I am not ready to say it's some sort of solidarity, I'd guess it's at least sympathetic and encouraging in a public way that seems unlikely if he were seen by Frank a douchebag who only got what he deserved.

Fuck. I just don't know, honestly. This shit is like trying to figure out "Lost". We got theories, but in the end, "wtf was that all about" won't ever be satisfactorily resolved.

But seriously, wtf is all of this about?

How many times do we have to rehash this before everyone gets it through there stupid skulls?!?!

It was heaven! The island was real except for season 6 which represented purgatory. The smoke monster was the security state. The number sequence is a nod to Hindu and Buddhist mythology. What the hell is so hard to understand?!?!

Well crap. It took me until your fourth sentence before I figured out you weren't talking about my Mix theory.

I'm repping this post, although I remain confused. And I think I'd rather forget than have it explained in this instance.

Maybe PV just wants to have the next WIN! documentary to be some epic thriller with a killer twist at the end.

12 years later and still no explanation for the tropical fucking polar bear.

So now that we can confirm he has a no trade clause, does anyone know the details on no trade clauses in MLS? I'm guessing he'd have to waive it to be traded, aka NYCFC "presents" him with a trade deal that he would have to approve before he gets shipped off? How much longer is his contract? Could he actually be willing to ride out what should be the peak of his career on the bench just for a check? We finally get a small answer and all it's done is generate more questions...

Jerry = Mix
Elaine = CFG

I'm starting to thing we had a trade lined up for mix last summer and he refused (invoking his no-trade clause). Someone in the front office threatened him. Something along the lines of "if you don't accept this trade, we won't play you the rest of the year". They expected Mix to give in and move on. Mix didn't blink and the club was forced to follow through. After the expansion draft, they're going to be forced to use their buyout on him.

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

So we'd have four goalkeepers on our roster then...

I wonder if now that we're closer to a World Cup he might be more interested in actually playing. Rather than accepting checks. I doubt he'll be invited to the January USA camp.

But we can assume none of the 4 keepers have a contract like Mix's. I think we can probably land a trade for Saunders somewhere, or Rawls to USL. I think moving a keeper would be much easier than trying to satisfy Mix with a trade.

CFG has to be sick of being bent over a barrel by this guy. Look at the way they finessed the Harrison and Johnson deals. When they see something they want, they make it happen. I feel like it's only a matter of time before they decide to play the one card they have left with him.

Edit: are there non-buyout clauses? :eek:
