Mix Gone?

I've been under the impression for quite some time now that there's more to this story than we'll ever know. He's a far better player/athlete than most if not all of our bench players yet he can't crack the squad.

If he somehow suffered a career ending injury, wouldn't NYCFC just release him? Wouldn't they have to pay him the remainder of his deal? Or would they keep him on the roster so he receives income?

Similar situation to Connor Brandt. I don't think he'll make it back into a game for NYCFC but we're keeping him to pay for his medical needs.

There have been reports for many weeks that Mix has been busting his ass in practice so I don't think it's an undisclosed injury situation.

Maybe that's a body double...
I think it is more likely that Vieira sees Mix as immature and too concerned with fame and is working with Mix in the same way that he has been grooming Khiry. I like to think that there's a lot of coaching going on behind the scenes on a personal level with Mix and Khiry. Maybe just wishful thinking, but it seems to have paid off recently for Khiry.

So you're saying Mix could come back next year with a cropped hair, run around a lot less, touch the ball little, and yet score nearly every game? (I kid, I kid)...

Seriously though, I think you could be right about the personal/psychological coaching. However having his agent there bodes of other arrangements (although possibly just contract renegotiation).

I try to talk myself into the secret injury theory every few weeks, then a picture or video will pop up of him ostensibly in full training

I tend to agree with this. Could be a chemistry issue with the coach or some kind of discipline thing, could be something else. Who knows. I can't think it's because he's not good enough.

I wouldn't read anything into him sitting with his agent.

Why wouldn't Mix sit with his girlfriend over in Pitchside and be closer to his teammates?

Then again, I haven't seen his girlfriend over in Pitchside for some time.

So apparently Mix was told he was benched due to lack of fitness. He contends (if my Norwegian translator is any good) that he's in the best shape of his life and said he's going to continue working hard anyways.

He also mentions later on that he does intend to go back to Norway at some point.

Is fitness really the only issue? If so that seems like something that would have been addressed by now, no?
