Mix Gone?

Can Mix play anywhere else on the field that would benefit us? Legitimate question.

I'm wondering if at this point Mix is being kept around to start for Lamps and Pirlo when PV turns to the rotation he has been teasing. He doesn't think he's a good late game sub because he doesn't play a special late game role but is a logical starter fill in as a like for like insertion?

I think Mix is the last man on the bench for this squad. If Brandt and Gomez were healthy, they would be higher on the depth chart.

Honestly, I think any theory that Mix has a future on this team is wishful thinking at this point. There have been countless opportunities for PV to get him involved, and he just hasn't. Maybe Vieira surprises us with some unexpected masterplan to use Mix later in the year, but Occam's Razor suggests he just doesn't rate the guy, or want him on this team.

Or the other possibility is that he's not used this year as there's not really an open spot for him on the field but he'll play the Lampard role next year. Perhaps that's what Vieira said in their chat when he pulled him aside the other week. And it would also explain why Mix has been so cooperative and compliant about not really being on the team.

Just a theory.

Again, sorry to say - wishful thinking in my book.

No narratives, no hypotheticals, no speculation. Vieira gives game time to the players he likes, and benches the ones he doesn't.

I think there's a very good chance both you and Kjbert are correct. I still wonder if there is a possibility he can provide some value as a Lampard or Pirlo 2.0 and keep our stars rested for the important season without a huge dip in play or change in tactics. Just throwing it out there.

That makes sense until you realize that we do not have a fatiguing stretch run, with no mid-week triples and a couple of dead weekends.

I honestly think we either transfer him to Europe this summer or he is cut at season's end. Sad, as I like him and his game but sometimes that's the way the game goes.

You are likely right. I am just wondering what PV means when he has said over the last few weeks that he would rest and rotate some players down the stretch. If he sits Pirlo or Lamps, how does he tinker the lineup? It very well may be that he plays Bravo or Lopez, plays Taylor/Mendoza and drops Mac back or pushes Iraola up, gives Ballouchy a run, drops Jack back, etc. Though all of those sound less natural than just plugging in Mix. Again, I'm not saying it will happen - Mix may stay in street clothes for the rest of the season which is a strong favorite, but it seems like we could get some value out of his 750k if he was a plug-and-play for those two and gets them a little R&R.

It's too bad Mix hasn't performed. The playoffs are Wednesday/Saturday if I remember correctly. We look like crap when we have a mid-week game.
