Right, and he just served an accumulation suspension. So, that's probably been on the minds of some front office people.
But if you watch him, he hasn't been quite as -- what's the right word -- wild this season. He's still picking up the fouls, but they don't seem so undisciplined. Just aggressive. Most teams would be okay with that, I think.

he'll play vs Miami to say his goodbye to the fans properly .. if he goes. but i don't think he's going yet.

I would like to know if the switch from playing through the press to over it was an adjustment or an advance strategy. Playing through it does probably cause them to press harder than they would if we didn't try to play through it. They were tired in the second half when we attached more vertically and directly. Like so many strategies, it works if you execute well.

Was that one of Santi’s best games ever in blue? He drives me crazy a lot - but he was on fire tonight. Should have had two sublime assists and probably more.

Really good question. We seemed to really be trying to bait them into coming too far forward, and they seemed to get wind of it eventually and pull back a little into the passing lanes. I'd love to know myself if going over the top was a contingency plan if they did that.

yeah, I noticed that SJ was baiting the forward to come forward when he started to pass out of the back which helped spread out the passing and gave more lanes to move the ball out of the back.
Their rope a dope strategy worked - in the first half it was very frustrating as the ball went horizontal more than vertical, but NYCFC started to find more spaces in the second half as RBNJ tired from pressing.
The image that I will leave with from this game was that play with Callens in stoppage time where he was racing back in a 1v1 battle for the ball - and was being held, fouled, shirt pulled but yet stood his ground and did not get beaten to the fact that he ended up face down just having spent all his energy, but he didn’t break.

I think it’s funny the announcers and Red Bull fans thought they dominated us in the first half. I was never that worried about them scoring - seemed we were riding out the high pressure and wore them down.

If you look at a passing map of the first 45 minutes, it looks like a spider web in our half.
But I wasn't all that nervous, either. We were defending well again (is it me, or do we seem to hang a lot of clean sheets when Martins starts) and Cushing was in his seat, like he was just waiting.
The entire crowd left...You always do these ceremonies before the game.
I understand not doing it before the game because there might not be a lot of people in the stands. Should have been done at halftime. Never postgame.
