absolute disappointment. played like we were hung over.

parks doesn't deserve to start. perea gives us so much more energy in the midfield and in transition.

Jones and martinez need to start. i'm over the bakrar and jovan experiments. they have had their chances and they show nothing that makes me think they're going to score.

santi motm. dude kept running till the last minute. everyone else has zero excuse for not running their ass off and fighting for every ball. we had zero aggression and it cost us a point on the road.

Casual Keaton never misses a chance to slow jog to the ball and this time it cost us a goal.

I agree on Perea, his passes are more accurate and he is better in final third.

I think both those strikers need time at a USL club, give minutes to Martinez. And if you are not playing Magno, sell him. Cushing is a coach who kills certain players. He loves Bakhrar, hates Magno. In last few games end of last season Magno had more influence than any other forward.

Santi plays with energy, good with feet, but does not see field like a 10 and that hurts this team. Maxi is great and no else like him on team, tough to rely on 35 yo.

Maxi is 37. And coming off a catastrophic knee injury. It's amazing he can still do what he does, but we can't count on him to start, and it's unfair to ask him to do it anyway, other than here and there. Plus, we don't want to burn him out over the summer and not have him in September and October and, hopefully, beyond.

Personally, when he does get a start, I think it should be on a spot basis to give Santi a break. One thing I'm sure of: no one else can give us his kind of spark off the bench.

Truth be told, I liked our XI at the end of the game. I totally get starting Alonzo at striker, but he's been at his best as a sub. It may be time to just throw Jovan in the pool and tell him to start swimming. Young guys like that -- cocksure, maybe taking the league too lightly coming in -- need to sweat and get beat up a little before they get good.

Perea needs minutes, too. Gray should be the starting right back. Malachi should start, Wolf on the other wing.

But of course, I'm just a guy sitting behind a big computer screen, so what the hell do I know. 🤷‍♂️

Well, I would love to comment on the game, but Apple TV wouldn't let me watch while on a plane because they forced me to verify my Android through a text message or a phone call. Guess what you can't do on a fucking flight?

I at least was sitting next to an Argentine man who was coming to New York for the Copa match on Tuesday. I talked to him for a bit about our club. He knew who Maxi was.

The defending in the corner by Ilenic and Keaton leading to the cross for NSH’s goal was just brutal. Comedy of errors and lazy play.

it was to be expected. neither parks no ilenic defend well. i've been waiting for parks to find his old form, but all he's been showing is casual laziness and giveaways.

ilenic can't defend to save his life and he's young. he NEEDS the coaching to be a better defender.

soon as i saw parks lazily jog over to the loose ball, i knew we were in trouble. Soon as the ball got past him and he just started walking up the field instead of helping ilenic, i knew we were even even worse trouble. when ilenic didn't give his all to at least attempt to block the cross, i had a sinking feeling we would get punished, and we did.

if nick has any balls, he'd bench them both. but we know he doesn't. some blah blah excuse about 3rd game in a week and travel blah blah. i can understand being tired, but at least look like you're trying. the half ass attitude is infuriating to see.

I whined about the schedule on Wednesday night, but I'm going to whine again. Having a Wednesday game in Los Angeles into a Saturday game in Nashville should not be allowed. That's crazy. Surprised we looked even halfway decent with that schedule. MLS teams never win on the road, to say nothing of teams that have to fly across the country on a short turnaround -- twice. Ridiculous scheduling.

That said, Ilenic is a real liability defensively. Every other team knows it and targets him. Feels like the kind of player that, right now, can't start. He gets exposed as a starter too much.

Right. Not to mention, Tayvon isn't the liability on attack he once was. To be honest, I had given up on him developing that side of his game myself. But I was wrong. He's much better this year than he's ever been before. I'd argue he's quite solid. And when defending, he puts dudes in his pocket.

First, thank you Leagues Cup.

Second, this game was even tougher than is apparent by Nashville's record. They's always been a great defensive team, with 3 of the top 10 Goals Against seasons in MLS from 2020-2023. This year they slipped, allowing 1.42 GA under Smith, but since Munthali took over it is just 0.50 goals per game allowed. Getting shut out by Nashville and Willis is no shame, especially 3 days after playing in LA.

Third, the schedule does us no favors from here on in. After the next 2 at Home, there will be 5 of 6 Away, split by Leagues Cup. Of the 5, only Columbus is sitting 7th or higher, but Away is Away. It includes a single week with 3 Away games. The week before is in Austin, so it goes NY-Austin-NY-~5 days at home-Chicago-Atlanta-Orlando.
When we finally have 4 of 5 at home, its is Philadelphia, Miami, at RBA, Cincinnati, Nashville. Philly, Inter and Cincy are each better Away than at home. I do not expect collapse, but we might have seen the high point of the season at 1.81 PPG after the San Jose game. If we do get up there again, then this team will have done something special I think.

Also having only two league home games in July and August is a dagger. The two nicest months of the year and we can't enjoy summer nights at the ballpark.

That's the worst part about Leagues Cup for me.
