What is the calculus? Is it better to give Maxi (and Magno) 2 more weeks rest or to get them 10-30 minutes knowing that they then have 2 weeks of rest?

Answer probably depends on the nature of the injury, rehab, comeback, etc.

cushing will try to win and put out his best xi. maxi will come on in the final 10-15 mins if santi is waning or we need some creative spark. possibly replacing someone else instead of santi. if we are up by multiple goals and the game seems "over", we may see maxi sooner and get 20-30 mins out of him. would be nice to see magno too. but cushing definitely wants to keep the win streak alive and especially against a team at the bottom end of the league table.

exactly what M moogoo said

Tl;dr maxi plays a little if we need a goal and a bit more if the game is +/- 3 with 20 minutes left

Cushing started saying Magno was healthy and available for selection a few weeks ago. At this point, I think Magno is not seeing playing time due to the emergence of Ojeda and Jones not because of his injury. Up by multiple goals is likely the condition for Magno to get time as well.

On a somewhat related note, Nick is about to have issues sorting out who makes the bench. The bench from the Revs game was:

Martinez
Haak
Jones
Barraza
Mijatovic
Fernandez
Tanasijevic
Ilenic
Magno

That's with Sands missing the game as well. A good problem to have but who is getting bumped to even get Maxi on the bench?

I’m not the coach, but just looking at this list, Haak is the 4th string CDM. So if you’re putting in Sands, then Perea (or Keaton) sits and Haak watches from the stands. With Maxi coming back, I think you look at each opponent and figure out what weapons you want in your arsenal and move one of Jones, Martinez, Mijatovic, or Fernandez off the bench.

My daughter (and her boyfriend  ) are driving down from upstate for the weekend and will join at the game tonight. I've never gone by car, does anyone have any tips/best practices for parking?

Haak to the bench for a better CM makes sense although I think you could argue that the bench from the Revs game was a bit light on defenders and midfielders. I think Cushing is already tilting the bench to more attacking players than normal in an attempt to keep guys happy. You are never going to sub in Martinez, Jones, Mijatovic, Fernandez, and Magno. If a midfielder goes down early he can put on Haak and then he's out of options for defensive subs. If Otoole goes down who knows what the plan is for that game or any of the subsequent games?

The fact that it's even an issue is a testament to our depth but Cushing has his hands full trying to balance things. At this point Jones has made Magno obsolete, it makes you wonder if Magno will get moved this summer.
