MLS Week 5

Saw a stat that red c ards are way up this year. I think its in response to the very rough play that has become MLS standard. I'm all for more red cards if it makles the league more technical

On the goal, the injured player did not seem to be hurt that bad, so playing on made sense. What was hard about it is that the injured player is the reason the long pass that led to the goal was onsides. But that's just a tough break.

As for the reds, it seems they're hyper-enforcing anything involving studs but the bumping, pushing, and grabbing still appear to be fair game.

The red card last night was a joke, and so was the one on the Revs against us last week. I'm all for clamping down on bad tackles, but sending off players for challenges like that is just going to create a lot of farcical games. It won't improve the standard, it'll just make the league unwatchable. The players look mystified - I'd say it's the refs who need to get more technical.

The fact this is all happening to the Red Bulls is hilarious, of course.

Disagree. Studs up is always a red.

Didn't look like a straight red to me. If the league wants to cut down on this stuff I'd like to see them get more liberal with their yellow cards than going straight to red.

Thought the Red was a tad harsh (thought the same last week too in our match), but I had no problem with New England on the play that resulted in the goal.

Didn't we get screwed with a similar play down in Orlando late last year? I kind of remember someone (Calle?) on the turf and Orlando ran right around him for the game winner. Dems da breaks........

The New England goal with the Red Bull player down keeping everyone onside happened to us last year when we played Orlando. Calle was injured in our 18 yard box and Larin scored an easy goal.

The title of this thread is incorrect by the way. MLS is calling this Week 5. The abbreviated slate last Week was Week 4. However, according to MLS Fantasy, last week and this week together are Round 4. Because MLS.
I leave it to thread creator Gotham Gator whether to change it.

UPDATE: And it's been fixed. The OCD side of me says thanks.

Dallas and Columbus ended in a 1-1 draw.

Nice result for the Crew to go into Dallas and come away with a road point.

I wanted a crew loss but whatevs. Shoutout to The Quaks for taking 2 pts away from DC.

So obviously we didn't do as well in this latest stretch of home games as you'd hope, but the good news is basically the entire east sucks right now. Although it's super frustrating because if we would have closed out Toronto or New England or didn't play awful against Orlando we really could have pulled a big lead to start the season. It's early but frustrating.

The good news is that there are lots of ties in the East, which keeps points down.

The bad news is that 3 of those are ours.

Down 4-0 to Orlando? Bring Grabavoy on. Yep, that's what I was thinking too Portland
