The language barrier has to be isolating, in the interviews Mitri has given his english seems limited and I assume he doesn't speak spanish. I wonder at times when people are seeing him as removed in BHTS videos it's more of a language issue. It's hard to know how much english they speak but every interview I've seen from Mata, Maxi, Taty, and Callens has been in spanish. Dome has mentioned in interviews that he struggled to convey tactics in english early on. In the current attacking line the only person that gives interviews in english is Heber. Interviews are probably a bad proxy for language skills as players could speak english but just prefer to do interviews in spanish but assuming at least some of that core speaks limited english or at ] least assuming that in many instances their default is to speak spanish to each other on and off the field It has to be difficult for Mitri to build chemistry/relationships.
Reyna and others from the team have spoken about intentionally trying to form groups players from similar backgrounds so that people feel comfortable. I recall and interview with Reyna saying that Ring/Tinn/Berget all stick together and it gives them a support system that was intentional. I wonder what the team is doing to try to help Mitri. Many of us suspect that Pablo Alverez was on the roster year 1 in some ways to give Villa a friend he was comfortable with from the start. Villa also had a translator with him constantly until he learned english. Not saying Mitri is the same level of superstar as Villa but given the sizable fee we payed for him it seems like putting some things in place to help Mitri acclimate would be a priority.
