And though I bear no ill will to Dome Torrent, Vieira dragged out his negotiations over 2+ months during our season, travelled to Europe during our season, lied repeatedly and directly with no attempt at face saving deflection, directly was responsible for the destruction of the 2018 season when our new coach took a team running at >2.00 PPG & earned 10 points in 12 games retooling everything midseason because Vieira abandoned us midseason, and he can go FRO and I allow myself a celebratory sip of my very expensive 25-year old Scotch every time he fails.
Not really sure why we celebrate our best players heading off to Europe for better opportunities and clubs while we revile our coaches for doing the same thing. Not trying to be snarky or combative, just been wondering this for a while now. Personally I want our best players and coaches to stay here, although I certainly understand that playing careers are short and you need to do what you need to do. It's just that I want Scally and Reyna on our field, ya know? Happy to have a sip o' that scotch as well though.
I personally don't think there's a problem with them going off to Europe or for better opportunities... it's just when they do it midseason and screw us over that it sucks. If Dome had gotten a job in La Liga or something else, and left at the end of that offseason like he did, then I don't think many people would have been mad. If he left half way through the season like Vieira, people would have been way more mad. That's, at least, what it boils down to for me.
Exactly. Being out of sync with the rest of the world is yet another reason MLS is at a huge disadvantage.
True, but there's also the chance that the coach can take a few months off of coaching and wait for the start of next preseason of the team. It's highly selfish from the MLS side of things, of course.
