This list is a bit crazy. Darnold and Barkley haven't played a single snap.
I think the only people on this list a casual New Yorker may realize who it is are: Aaron Judge and Kristaps Porzingis.

Why? If he can produce a goal or assist every game in the last 10-15minutes, then he could function the same way for the MNT.https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018/07/18/world-cup-predicting-2022-usmnt-roster-armchair-analyst
Doyle just predicted Jonathan Lewis in the 23 for the 2022 World Cup. Can we have him play 90 minutes first.
Of course, they’ve been shopping for his replacement even before he was injured. You guys are looking four years into the future.
By then he'll be starting for, if not us, another team. Shelton was our super sub, and now he plays (excluding his injuring) starter for SKC.
Ummm, Eli? Everyone knows Eli. Even my wife and her friends. This list is a bit crazy. Darnold and Barkley haven't played a single snap.

have they been? I didn't know that, actually.Of course, they’ve been shopping for his replacement even before he was injured.
But yeah, Lewis will either be an MLS starter or playing significant minutes at a higher level I would guess.
The context on athletes is really disorienting. Eli looks 5'10" 180 on TV standing next to his linemen. Stephen Curry looks small next to LeBron but he's 6'3".Ummm, Eli? Everyone knows Eli. Even my wife and her friends.
And it’s not like he blends in. He’s freaking huge (physically) and very recognizably goofy-friendly Manning face.
I’m right under 6 ft and 200lbs, and if I stand behind Eli, you can’t see me. I know we see sizes reported all the time, but because of the context we see him on tv, I don’t think most realize just how much of a mountain of man that guy is. Or maybe it’s just me that always gets surorised by athletes in person. (Like with Villa, where it was opposite - like, omg, he’s so tiny. I want to pet him. )

No. But the struggle was real.Did you pet him?
They were pretty borderline about hockey in the article.Goes to show you just how little anyone cares about soccer and hockey in new york. But at least hockey got some recognition in this article...
I should have italicized "some" to make it more obvious, but I was trying to jape at it lol. Regardless, this, I article, I feel, quite explains most, if not all, NY'ers approach to sports- "The yankees and giants!" and everyone else. They were pretty borderline about hockey in the article.
They also seemed non-commital as to whether a championship from the Devils (a team in New Jersey) would count.
It would not.
Did we ever get any?Well, the NYDN just reduced its sports staff from 35 to 9(!!!!!!), so I wonder if we'll be getting basically zero tread in that paper from now on.
