Only 1 MLS game had a higher rating last year and that was Seattle vs. LA supporter's shield game at 699k on regular NBC.
So 539k for a first game on Espn2 is pretty inspiring.

Amazing what happens when everyone knows what time the game will be. Great job MLS, ESPN, Orlando, NYCFC, etc.
This is entirely correct. Creating a weekly destination game time has been long overdue.

Average viewing figures of 391,000 with a record viewership of 1.29 million, if my sources (Google) are correct.
TV ratings is the real battle... not attendance. Full stadiums are great, but the real money comes from TV deals. Look at that new EPL contact. MLS needs to get soccer fans to watch other teams, not just their local club. Just making it to NHL levels would be incredible.

The REAL question is this: ESPN 2 typically shows Professional Bowling on Sundays. How did we match up to that?
