NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

I would imagine that NJRB will use the Dax McCarty GAM to bring in a guy like Spector. That seems like a move they would make.

Yep, and you know they didn't sell Dax without a ready plan for his replacement.
All theoretically true, but remember, this is the same team that had two different DP players on the roster that weren't getting on the field, so while they cross their T's and dot their I's, their sentences are still just gibberish.

Fernandinho has had the most minutes on the club. Doubtful he would move.

Not this year. He's missed a lot of time because of discipline and Pep isn't too happy about that. Fernando has only featured ten times, almost all as subs. If Carvalho came and who knows if they're going after any other midfielders, even with Gundogan out, PT would be sparse for Fernando

This year. Let me clarify. He is not number 1 in total minutes due to his 3 match ban, but #1 in minutes per game average in his 17 matches which were all starts.

I forget, does MLS allow half-season loans? Loan us Fernando for the spring and replace him with Khedira in the summer.
I think MLS prefers year-long loans, but as RB demonstrated last year, they got a half-season loan during the summer from their mothership...... so anything is possible.

and don't forget that LD loaned himself to LA for about 6 games.

MLS doesn't really have any rules on loans outside the league. There are definitely some clauses to do with options to buy, but I think as long as you can afford the loan they've really softened on their stance.

The Fernando half year loan would make a lot of sense from our perspective. My question would be around his UCL participation. I would assume Carvallho is UCL cap tied? Is that a thing? If Fernando was on the UCL roster, would Pep let a guy like that walk for the second half of the year?

Yes, UCL cap-tying is a thing.

Anyone would that is loaned to us by the mothership would be a DP.

Correct, that's why the half-season loan was thrown out there. Gives us two options - mutual option (player and team) to extend the loan and have Fernando remain here as a DP long term, or let the loan expire to sign a different third DP while Fernando goes back to MCFC for the 2017/18 season or gets sold off or loaned elsewhere.

If Fernando is told he's third on the depth chart this spring and can get playing time at NYCFC for the spring if he wants it, he just might take it. But if MCFC needs him for UCL as Kjbert points out, then this pipe dream is moot anyway.

I really don't know much about Fernando's game except that he is supposed to be a physical, middle of the field presence. Can he distribute? Is he athletic enough to act as a caddie for Pirlo?

You don't get to play for Man City unless you're really good (except for Fabian Delph) so I'm sure he would be a coup. I know we're just spitballing here.
