Interesting. Got a USMNT call-up under Klinnsman (who didn't, other than Feilhaber and McCarty) and now he's on trial.

Bismark Adjei-Boateng is a Right to Dream graduate who currently plays for Strømsgodset IF in Norway on loan from English Premier League side, Manchester City FC.

Adjei-Boateng signed for City following his graduation from the Academy in 2011. Having been loaned to Strømsgodset IF, he helped them become Norwegian champions in the 2012-13 season, scoring 7 goals in 28 appearances.

A fast, ball-winning midfielder, Adjei-Boateng won international honours for Ghana at U17 level in 2010, and is focused on representing his country at senior level in the future.

ERNEST AGYIRI


Ernest Agyiri is a Right to Dream graduate and professional footballer, signing for English Premier League side, Manchester City, in 2015.

Born in Accra, Ernest won a scholarship to the Right to Dream Academy in 2008. According to Technical Director, Gareth Henderby, he is one of the most naturally-gifted footballers to enter the Academy. An attacking midfielder, Ernest has often been the source of match-winning moments in crucial games – most recently in helping the RtD U18s to retain the Gothia Cup in July 2015.

In his graduating speech in November 2015, Ernest spoke about the importance of reacting positively to criticism as a means of self-improvement. Building on his natural talent, it has been Ernest’s willingness to improve as a student and a footballer that has seen him fulfil his ambition of signing for Manchester City.

Ernest has also represented Ghana U17s and has set his sights on earning a call-up to the Black Stars squad.

There are some others. Seems Manchester City sign a few of these guys.
 
Based on the tweet, it looks like the target could be Boateng. I believe in that same tweet, he mentions MLS scouring Scandinavia and "one set to join NYCFC".

Boateng currently plays in Norway.
 
According to another article I found, Man City have signed quite a few Right to Dream alumni, and often lends them to Scandinavian countries due to work permit issues in England.

I do think that Boateng is one that would make sense given his position, which is a defensively minded central mid. He is 22 and is in his fifth season on loan in Norway.

Weren't at least one if not two of our trialists last year right to dream players?
 
Now seeing that Boateng was linked with a possible move to Colorado a few weeks ago.

The Colorado Rapids are close to signing Ghanaian midfielder Bismark Adjei-Boateng from Manchester City, a source with knowledge of the ongoing negotiations told Goal on Friday.

The move, which would involve a transfer fee, could be finalized as early as next week, when the international transfer window reopens.

By the way, I highly recommend this week's Soccer in the City podcast, which has some nice interviews and tidbits. They were at the draft and got time with Vieira and Lewis. Coach V says that they have identified the players that they want and now need to do what it takes to get them. He also says that they knew going into the combine that they wanted to try and get Lewis if they could.

There is other information that I think people here would find moderately interesting regarding the mindset and direction of the Club. No bombshells, but good general info.

One fun piece of trivia regarded new advanced stats the Club collects. One metric covers how far the players run during a game. The guy who covers the second most ground in a game??? Andrea Pirlo.
 
I forget the name of the agency (Premier Soccer or something) but they posted that they had just placed a couple of Ghanians in MLS in the past week. They didn't give names but NYCFCFan tweeted it.

Nice work.

Funny that Agyiri is one of the guys I noted above. As mentioned, there are other Man City loanees and former players that are Right to Dream graduates - but those were the two in central midfield. Agyiri seems more of an attacker, which we don't really need (maybe could use one more). He's also a little younger than Adjei-Boateng.

Maybe we are feeling that after another year of seasoning, Agyiri is better prepared to play here after a year spent first with the U-23s and then in Norway.

Adjei-Boateng seems like the better fit based on need, also from the loan info you provided it looks like he's right in that TAM sweet spot. Maybe there is some issue with the man city relationship and MLS is blocking a direct MCFC to NYCFC transfer so the plan is: Adjei-Boateng from MCFC to Colorado then Colorado trades us Adjei-Boateng for Mix. We get the defensive midfielder we need, Colorado fills its vacant USMNT midfielder spot left open by the Jones departure and Mix gets meaningful min again. Seems like a win for both teams and Mix, at least that's the dream.

There's probably a slim chance this happens, but you have a beautiful mind. It all makes perfect sense. Why not?

There's also chance that talks broke down between Colorado and Boateng and talks are now between NYC and Boateng. If Boateng is already signed by MLS, it's common to see negotiations occur between multiple teams.

It's also encouraging to see that the article was from a few weeks ago and no deal has been announced.
