NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Pre-season unfounded hot take I think ITS regresses this season and struggles as we move from PVs system to Dome ball.
It’s possible. Dome had him firing a lot of crosses at the end of the season last year rather than cutting inside.

I am intrigued by Lewis at CF. Defensive responsibilities are a lot different there than on the wing.

I agree, Dome seemed to keep him really wide towards the end of the season. He scored a lot of goals last season when the ball was quickly switched to his side after an overload on the opposite side had drawn the defense to the left. He's so good a beating his guy, cutting in and getting off a shot but I worry he won't be as effective in a more vertical passing type offense. He's a talented guy so hopefully he figures it and keeps up with the goals because we need them.

In that scenario, our leading returning scorer is on the bench...
He and Lewis are also the only two guys who have proven they can consistently take on a defender and beat him.

I have no idea what Dome will do with any of these guys. Unfortunately, I'm not sure he does either.

So we know who our LW is.

Who sees more time at CF? Moralez, Lewis, Medina or ITS?
So the guy that played all of his minutes at CF and CAM last game is definitely our 100% locked in LW? I wouldn't read too much into that one line that may or maybe not be the author editorializing a detail

I think Dome's going to be super fluid with the front 3 or 4. Individual talent will probably shine. The starting left wing might end up playing 70' on the right side instead depending on in-game tactics. Counting Maxi, we seem to have 6 players for those 4 spots, and looks like we are targeting a 7th. I expect heavy rotation, fluidity, and playing of the hot hand in front of our back four plus another rotation of Ring, Parks, Ofori, and Sands.

Fine. We shouldn’t read into the line where they tell us exactly where he will play.

You cant totally ignore where he actually played or the fact that Reyna actually said he can play multiple positions?

We don't know if Reyna actually said that he will play left wing or if the author is just filling in a detail because Maxi is our 10 and Reyna said we are stilling looking for a 9.

I am sure that Mitrita will line up in a whole bunch of spots. If we learned one thing about last year is that Dome is not beholdened to his lineup and tactics like Patrick was.

I’m trusting the quote. I have no reason not to.

It's quite possible he does spend a lot of time as the LW, but I do agree with EganSoccerWords derek_villa that the quote is fairly flimsy in that.

The actual paraphrasing that's done by the author of what Reyna said is that Reyna expects Mitrita to score 10-15 goals. The middle part where it states that he will likely line up on the LW appears to be the author filling in detail (though it is possible that is based on other info Reyna told him. But then he also immediately says afterwards that he has the versatility to occupy other positions, so idk.

I think it goes back to what many have already said before me, the top attacking 4 will likely be quite fluid that perhaps there really won't be an actual LW, RW, CAM, CF.

This kind of reminds me of discussions I've had in regards to starters in college basketball games. Whoever starts doesn't really matter, it's who plays the most minutes and most important minutes that matters. Same here, where a guy lines up at the beginning of the match may not matter quite as much for us, because they may likely interchange throughout the game.

Based off of last season, I agree that the front 4 will be fluid. I just don’t know if that’s a good thing
