Wonder if that client's employees have a shorter drive to France or Switzerland..."Higuain who, by all accounts, is a prima-donna..."
Pre-season unfounded hot take I think ITS regresses this season and struggles as we move from PVs system to Dome ball.
The talk about who will play the #9 is moot. Considering the looks we've seen this preseason, there will be 3-5 different players playing that role throughout the game. Yeah, target forwards are cool, but give me a bunch of small, quick guys who can make runs and connect short passes any day of the week -- something we've stockpiled.
Expecting a complete transition from PV to Dome's style during a midyear coaching change is unrealistic. Changing a style takes time. Took Man City a couple of transfer windows to get players that fit his system and to adjust to the new style of play, and their patience paid off.Good. Let’s actually play like that then. Because last year, we just sent volleys into the box for our (checks notes) 5’8” Striker
If (heaven forbid) Dome gets sacked in the middle of this season, then heaven help whichever manager comes in to replace him. "So you mean they're ALL under six foot?"
Bigger issue than that.... when PV left, the team was winning, so there was no need for a tactical/roster revamp, and yet here we are. It’s one thing if a manager is sacked and a revamp is needed to right the ship, but when the manager leaves for greener pastures and the system/resources are/were working, it’s on the FO to bring in a manager that doesn’t insist on a full overhaul. Instead, they brought in a guy that felt the need to tear down a 3 year system that the roster was implementing (not perfectl, but) extremely well - just needed better inmatch adjustments/plan B.i mean it depends if manager wants to play target man or not. its the same cycle again, previous manager leaves new manager comes in and tries to use what he has until the following season when the FO can try to get what manager wants

If Dome is cut loose, it’s gonna be because this revamp went sideways and in that situation the new manager should/will definitely need to jigger the roster (again).
any manager coming in will want to change things to their liking, no one but PV will play PV exact style. there can be managers that play similarly but will make adjustments and that can mean switching or letting go of a DP or TAM based player. changes were going to happen, especially with it being villas last year. we are used to the PV style since thats the longest we had and he also PV had no plan B in his system, it showed vs RB and portland last year as examples.
i get people not liking Dome, but you guys cant act that who ever was brought would of just read a script and said this is how we play because its been working, players react different to different managers, and not only that, other teams have tape against us they adjust as well as the season progresses so if we play again they know how to face the PV system and in game adjustments will be approached differently by new manager. ( and even initial formations perhaps too)
that being said this is the make or break year for Dome since he has preseason and FO did get players of his liking ( at least we think, unless FO just being cheap by only getting YNT caliber players and promoting Academy kids, though Mitri looks promising from just highlights and his goal last game) so he doesn't have much of an excuse if this year it doesn't work.

If you are hired mid season to take over for something that is working, tour first order of business is to not fuck it up.
sure, but when you given a contract till 2020 you feel you got some leeway to make changes. and we can never be 100% sure a replacement will not fuck it up even if they follow everything exactly as previous manager. FO should of just told him he is interim till end of 2018 to try to keep him following what PV did, but they didnt.
I think the typical new manager roster turn over is a bad idea in the MLS because it's considerably more difficult and detrimental under the more constrictive MLS roster rules. NJRB switched managers but stuck with the system and got better we did the opposite and got worse. In hindsight it's too bad they didn't just promote one of PVs assistants to continue out with the foundation that took 2 years to craft. If we are going to have a new manager every 2-3 years the club needs to pick and identity/system and stick with it we don't have the budget or roster flexibility of man city so we need to stop acting like each manager change can come with an overhaul. It took PV until the start of last season to get his system up and running with a roster of his players to run it. If this takes a similar amount of time Dome should have things clicking for the start of his last season in 2020 then what happens when he leaves, we start all over again?
I agree that this is ideal for midyear, but also was a different situation at RB. Marsch stayed within his organization and therefore couldn't really burn all his bridges. He also wasn't going to be a head coach in his new job. So for two reasons he left his entire coaching staff behind.as for RB, you said it yourself armas was assistant and got promoted

That’s fine. Then Dome should say I am changing things, regardless if it’s impact on this season. And I would have just stayed away.

PV screwed us by leaving. Then he doubly screwed us by taking almost the whole staff with him.
Someone who knows the assistants better than I do can comment on this, but my bet is that the assistants who were left behind after PV took his picks weren't the ideal candidates to step in as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
