NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

Why we chasing another winger?? One who can disappear for stretches at a time.
Given our schedule glut (whenever he would get here) and trophies motivations, I am ok loading up even on the wings. That assumes we save enough $$$$ to address more glaring positions. As for his talent, he has some sick skills when on from what I recall from the selective vids, so hopefully he would be motivated to perform in the environment he was seeking.

Taty has shown that he’s better centrally.
I'm not sold on this at all. We've had exactly one game since Heber arrived where Taty played without Heber and it was against a USL side. Before Heber the club clearly suffered from the lack of a competent CF presence and Castellanos did not provide it. I'm not at all convinced Taty can act as a solo CF and we need a Heber backup.

Makes me think they expect we will get an offer for Isi in July that would be accepted.

Still happy with a GMS signing - will be a little more depth out wide and someone who is either dynamite going down the left (and linking with a full back) or solid enough coming in from the right.

It is true that he disappears for spells when the going is tough - a little bit powderpuff when there's a struggle in the match, but I think the change of scenery and a chance to adapt to a new country/league would show us a lot of the best of GMS.

Now, if we can just sign up Stuart Armstrong, Ryan Gauld, Andy Robertson, Johnny Russell, and try to recreate that Dundee United team that played such amazing football a few years ago...

TBF I think he's the only left-footed guy we have who prefers to play on the left wing.

All other left wing options (Mitri, Héber) are right-footed. All our left-footed wingers (Shradi, Medina) prefer to cut in from the right.

Dome said in the off-season that he prefers to play with traditional wingers, so this is pretty exciting in the sense that it gives us an entirely different look. Too bad we don't have any true right wingers (I know, Lewis).

The question is would you rather have this guy on some kind of TAM wages or Jonathan Lewis as GA player on $110K?

Hard to know. He looks a bit like a Johnny Russell type but maybe without as much grit. He sure seems like he can break down a defense with his dribble.

I guess I would also note that this doesn't seem like a depth signing - and that's what we might need on the wings. We have Mitri, Taty and Isi, who are all starting level players for the wing, and Maxi has been spending time on the wing under our new formation. That's 3/4 top quality guys for 2 spots, and there's also Medina, and whatever you think of him, he is at least a quality backup.

I suppose I don't understand why we need to lay down TAM money to get a new guy at a spot where we already have so much quality and depth that we traded out a really good young player because he wasn't getting enough time.
