NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

but Yaya does not have the star power, not proportional to Pirlo's anyway. Don't see him sell as many tickets as Pirlo did. Hack, Pirlo brought me to this club and now I am a new fan (well I was thinking of it when I first heard of Villa but Pirlo pushed me over the line). we need someone both good and with star power (important to continue to build fan base to make a case for a bigger proprietary stadium...etc.)
Dude you don't need "stars" to fill up seats, look at all the teams with mostly players we have heard of doing better than us, winning fills up seats.Get players who want to win, not "stars" who do fuck all and sit on their money.

We have been talking established big European names... Hope our scouts are working hard in South America and get some young players here to play and develop them into super stars who will eventually be on Brazil national team or even better, become a U.S. Citizen. Speaking of which, I would rather invest top dollars in bringing the European trainers to come develop local and South American talent. Eventually that can become important revenue source with big transfer fees from exporting them to Europe
Look at Gyasi Zardes for LA. First team contributor and possibly a multi-million transfer talent. And guess who is waiting to replace him? Fellow LA academy player Jose Villarreal.

Dude, stars and winning are not mutually exclusive, are they?

this team will turn around when we can plug holes with Academy players.

LA has the best academy in the league. Thanks to MLS rules, they also trot out 7 DP level players with Keane, Gerrard, Dos Santos, Zardes, Gonzales, Lletget and Juninho. We probably have 5, one of whom isn't playing and two of whom are underperforming in Mix and Iraola.

Lucas Leiva is leaving Liverpool. He's 28 and a DM. He was making 4 million pounds according to the interwebz but goddamn it, I'd trade Lampard for him in a jiffy.
I don't like this and here's why. On numerous threads people talk about getting a DM. Right now we have the following players competing for central roles (outside of defense):

Villa
Poku
Pirlo
Lampard (once he is healthy)
Mix (once we have a coach who realizes that's where he should play)
(Let's forget about AJ, Grab, et al for now.)

Regardless of formation there are 4 spots up for grabs. We already have 5 players competing for starting spots in the middle.

Let's find a DP winger instead of further cluttering our middle.

I know it's impossile, that why I hypothetically mentioned that I'd trade Fat Frank for a DM.

Could we possibly get Angus Gunn on loan next year? And would he be worth a punt? Man City keeper prospect who's just been capped by England U 21. I know Joe Hart isn't going anywhere and most of us are no longer satisfied with Josh Saunders so thought I'd bring this up.

I would like to see Johannsen get some run to close out the year. I can't imagine Saunders is the long term solution. Although, #BecauseKreis , maybe they haven't even considered it.

I'm sure it's been talked about within other topics on this forum, but Kreis won't play the kids/stop playing players he trusts, until we are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Sad, but true.

Which kind of reminds me, what the hell is the status of Khiry Shelton? The guy has been listed as questionable for months it seems. I would feel better if he was constantly listed as out, or recently started being questionable....but it seems like he has had that same status for so long now.

Maybe he got himself frozen out due to being close to Mix

Even ManCity academy gave up on Johannsen. If he is what you think is the future, we are doomed.

That makes little sense. Crappy argument. Just because EDS released the guy doesn't mean he can't play. It meant he couldn't play for EDS. Angus Gunn is their keeper of the future and Joe Hart is their keeper of the present. Kid would never play there.

There's a guy playing upstate that is just dominating in goal. Rochester's Brandon Miller has given up just 9 goals in 17 games this year. His 0.55 goals against per game is nearly half that of the next best keeper in the league.

Anyone know any more about this guy? Does he just have a stellar defense in front of him?

He's 25 but only 6' tall. Still might be worth a trial just to take a look at him in person. He appears to be having an amazing season.

See if we can make a trade for Alex Bono, too. Really great keeper sitting on the bench in Canada.
