NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

He is one of the best players for Dundalk, which has been the surprise of Europe this season. I only follow them because they are Irish and they ALMOST qualified for the Champions League Group Stage, which would have been incredible for a team in Ireland.

The fact that he is a wide player makes sense. I have a strong sense our next DP signing will be a forward, as Harrison moves into the midfield permanently.

Combined midfield age of less than 100 confirmed. #silverlinings

Doing a little searching, CFG is very familiar with this kid. Melbourne has been linked with him.

He has offers to two Championship sides, and the Colorado Rapids have also made overtures. Very interesting name. Love that we may be targeting a young winger like this.

Jurgen is beating the Schweinsteiger to MLS drum again. He'll be 33 at the 2017 start and he'd be a good 2 year signing. I hate the older player talk, but it's hard not to with the big names. Same age as De Rossi I think. Either would be a major upgrade to Iraola to man that area of the pitch. You're basically adding defense, game control, passing, physicality and leadership all in one player. Mix could've been a perfect box to box mid next to a CM/CDM like either of them.

Get Bastian, add that Irish guy as a TAM player, and the team will have taken a big step up on quality/speed (presuming Lampard leaves, Iraola retires [per LionNYC 's Hot Take], and Mix leaves purgatory for another league). That still leaves more resources for another impact player.

I'd cry tears of joy if we got Basti. I agree with the two year signing, and since he hasn't really played in a competitive match in months his body should be pretty well recovered.

Schweiney makes sense from a buisness sense. With him or another German player you've DP'd legends of the four most prominent leagues/nations in the world.

I'd wager Schweiney is worth about 500 butts in seats on average over the course of next season. Mostly from German expats and their families.

He's getting a raw deal right now and it might be a possibility.
It looks like he is ripe for a January exit (along with 6 or 7 additional JM exiles). He's at least training with the first team now, so he will be in great shape, with no game knocks. And if PV is concerned about the family/character aspect of a player, Basti is a stellar guy.

Ask Lampard about injuries without playing in a game.

Anyone here follow the Irish League?

If so, what can you say about Daryl Horgan?
I don't know anything about him, but he came up on this week's Guardian Football Weekly podcast when they were talking bout Dundalk. The Irish correspondent said he was getting a fair bit of attention from teams in Europe (didn't mention MLS) but that he thought Horgan would stay in Ireland. Seems an odd choice since he isn't that young by European football standards and the Irish league is pretty low profile (they mentioned average league attendance of something like 1,000), but I pass it along for what it is worth.

I hope we keep mena. He's exactly the type of back up I like. Tons of talent with flaws that can be improved upon.
The Mena situation is an interesting one. I think he is a good MLS defender in terms of athleticism, 1on1 defending, etc. At the same time, he's a brutal fit in our system and I'm not sure his passing, both in terms of execution and decision-making, can improve to the degree we need it to if we are going to keep playing this way. I have no idea where he'd go if he went somewhere else, but I could easily see him becoming a very good defender in the league on another team that suited his strengths and didn't amplify his weaknesses. If I'm Reyna, I would probably see if there is another team out there who would value those skills and pay us for them.

Maybe a team managed by the coach that brought him here would be interested.
