NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

I'll point out that Nasri's contract with MCFC runs through June 2019. He could end his loan at Sevilla, play a full season here on loan, and still be sold by MCFC if it doesn't work out efficiently.

EDIT: I mean 1.5 seasons here. Second half of 2017 and all of 2018.

I would not be surprised to see Nasri in the summer. He has made no secret of his desire to play in the MLS.

Well I have no knowledge off the NASL. Do you think he could make the step up to the MLS?

Maybe. He will definitely be good for the bench regardless.

However he does count as a foreign player, so that is definitely a strike against him. MLS foreign players should generally be starting or seriously challenging for the position, since there is evidence that the league structure will generally overpay American talent relative to its skill level on a global scale. This state of affairs is more of a commentary on our continued failures to get a functional young player development system in place more than anything else.

I would be shocked if Nasir isn't sold to Sevilla. Don't get your hopes up.

I'm sure PV would love to have him, but if Pep can sell him for $30 Mil and reinvest those dollars in someone else he needs, no way he's headed to NYC.

Logic check, bro. Fine with your conclusion, but the show your work portion is lacking.

Problem with this kind of thing is you never know if a player is sincere or just using MLS/NYCFC to drive up their price elsewhere.

No reason to invest money in another American keeper unless his name is Rimando, Hamid or Robles. They're a dime a dozen.

I don't want to waste another international spot on a Keeper, but I'd rather get a kid from Ecuador for $100k than Steve freaking Clark

A Honda and Kagawa midfield by 2018? Both still are young (ish), can play any system/formation, have the work rate to excel in MLS and have played together on the int'l team for years. They also are both out of favor on their current teams. Imagine the marketing opportunities as well.
