I thought i would look into what MCFC EDS players we might go for, some could be loans but some could also be permanent. These are the players i think are most likely although there are a few others that could happen that are not listed here.
Name: Shay Facey
Position: CB/RB
Age: 21
Type of deal: Permanent
Future at MCFC?: Very unlikely
Info: Since leaving NYCFC Facey had a relatively unsuccessful loan at Rotherham in the Championship and is currently on a season long loan at Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen. He started a few games before being red carded but since coming back from suspension has not been able to get back into the starting 11. There is a chance he could be recalled in January and either sold or loaned to NYCFC as his alternatives would probably be League 1 or 2 football.
Where he would fit in for us:
Could replace Mena as a backup CB and would challenge Brilliant and Chanot for a starting role. Likely to be a more cheaper option than Mena. Could also fill in at RB if RJ/Gomez was injured.
Name: Thierry Ambrose
Position: ST/RW/LW
Age: 19
Type of deal: Loan
Future at MCFC?: Potentially
Info: Was one of MCFC’s brightest prospects but in the last 2 years has had 2 serious injuries meaning he has only played around 3 months. Recently returned from an ACL injury and has scored a few goals for the EDS. There are many younger and equally talented players in the EDS so he has mainly been limited to coming off the bench. Therefore he could be loaned out in January as MCFC will not want to block progress of other players. He is quick, hardworking and scores lots of goals and also a very likeable person.
Where he would fit in for us:
Could start alongside Villa and Harrison as part of the front 3. MCFC would want him to be a regular starter however i think he would be good enough. The concern is that we do have Shelton and Okoli who are both promising and he could take minutes off of them. Can only see this happening if TMac plays more at CM than LW next season.
Name: James Horsfield
Position: RB, CDM, LB
Age: 21
Type of deal: Permanent
Future at MCFC?: Very unlikely
Info: Plays for MCFC’s EDS but surprisingly was not loaned out in the summer (the EDS is meant to just be U19s now). Last year he went to Doncaster (league 1) on an emergency loan for a month making 3 apps. Seems to be struggling to find a club, he had spent some time last year training with Melbourne City. Very unlikely to have a future with MCFC so could be signed on a free transfer in January.
Where he would fit in for us:
Would be a useful squad player who can play multiple positions. Probably is not of starting quality however but his wages should be cheap. Perhaps he would have a trial in pre-season like Gomez did.
Others that are less likely:
Ellis Plummer(22, CB, EDS)
David Faupala(19, ST, NAC Breda*)
Manu Garcia(18, CAM, Alaves*)
Denzeil Boadu(19, ST/RW/LW, EDS)
Charlie Oliver(19, CB, EDS)
