NYCFC Players Wanted Thread

And Mikey Lopez starting in midfield is not going to help that stat.
Word. No matter how many times the team talks about how defending is a team responsibility, people seem to gravitate towards the theory that conceding a lot of goals is a sign that we need new / different defenders. It's not always false but it's plainly false when it comes to our lineup, our style, and the current mismatch between our team and our style.

My assessment is based on more than a stat...but the stat is very indicative of the state of our defense. Our defensive lapses which occured too frequently were a tragicomedy.

Is there any worry that if we sign Honda CFG will want him to play a few games in Japan for Yokohama?

I honestly don't think CFG are as involved as people think they are with Yokohama. I really don't think they actually see the team as part of their joint marketing or as part of "the City family". They're still Nissan's baby at the end of the day.

It was quite telling that, when Nissan purchased Mitsubishi a couple of months back, which put them afoul of the J. League rule preventing one company from owning two clubs (Mitsubishi own Urawa Red Diamonds) that Nissan responded by announcing their intention to sell Urawa Reds off. If ever there was a time to award CFG full control of Yokohama then that was it - especially given the said J. League rule allows you to retain a 20% stake in a second club as a "minority owner" - but they straight-up ignored the opportunity.

Speaking of deleted tweets, before the RSL news, Christopher Sullivan tweeted and then deleted a tweet stating that Landon was headed to Liga MX for $8 Million a yesr

Anywhere but LA or San Jose would be heresy. In my opinion, it would make him the most hated player in MLS.

Nah, reading the LA forums most are okay with him leaving. His USMNT legend status will make people follow him wherever he goes. Wonder if him and Reyna have any type of relationship from when they played for the Nats together.
I agree that Landon is transcendent and beyond fan hate in the US after his 2010 WCF goal, his 2013 Gold Cup where he pretty much saved Klinnsman, and then getting shafted in '14.

But here's how that convo would go with Claudio.
Reyna: hey old pal, come over to NYC and give us some good attacking midfield play.

Landon: sounds awesome! Whatever number you're thinking, double it.

CR: Why?

LD: 2006.

ETA: (Btw, if you're having a good day, do not under any circumstances go back and watch highlights of that match. I just did, and I will be pissed off the rest of the day. That loss was total bs and reminds me of just how unlucky -cough, cheated -the US has been in WCFs.)

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but pretty sure he is going to Milan on loan

That's too bad. It was always a pipe dream for me. He could terrorize this league as a CAM or SS with his pace and ball skills. Him going to Milan shows that Koemann has no clue how to use him.
