Nycfc Signs Mix Diskerud

So I think it's safe to assume that NYCFC kept collecting all that allocation money just for this signing. All makes sense now.

Doesn't the fact we used allocation money to make this deal non-DP confirm the fact we're getting a 3rd DP?

Possibly, but probably not right now. They could be saving it for the summer transfer market.

I'd honestly rather save for the summer. Wouldn't be concerned with play offs so early in the season, and no point to rush for a player just to have one. better players will be available in the summer anyway.

NYC still has a lot of allocation money I think they are going to use on Callie. Another good thing is a lot of NYCFC's best players are real young.

Where did he say that?
http://www.sbisoccer.com/2015/01/pleased-diskerud-summer.html

“I think we’ve always been clear that we will have three DPs, but the timing of it has never been exact. I think there is one thing that we have been clear on and we continue to be clear on, that we’re not going to add any player, regular player or Designated Player, because we’re against some timeline.

“I think that would be a faulty decision. We’re going to add the right player and the right third DP.”

The thing with the allocation dollars is...how long do they last?

Lampard is on a 2 year deal. Let's assume that Mix has a two year deal where his salary is paid down over those two years. If he performs, he will commmand more money. He could slip into Frank's DP slot.

Point being, do the allocation dollars last through the next two years?

Is there something in international play that prohibits it or is it just a USMNT decision? I am thinking of Chicharito who plays under J. Hernandez when donning a Mexico jersey.

Very nice to see good news for a change, loving the enthusiasm from Mix & the fans

It's not against the rules, it's more of a cultural thing. Brazilian and Portuguese players routinely have nicknames on their kits (e.g. Pelé, Kaka, Hulk, and Pepe).
