Pirlo staying in Juventus is good news. Come on people, we need young talent for years to come for our club. Not aging fucks that come here to retire and just make CFG money selling tickets.

Umm he would be the best midfielder in MLS?

Instead, you want us to field a teams of unproven guys because they are young. Great. More potential!

You need star talent to bring in quality youth players. Any young player worth a damn is going to look to Europe first. If MLS gets players like Pirlo, it only helps the cause. Plus, it's not like Pirlo would be blocking another player from playing, and he'll wipe the floor with most players. This isn't just some aging star, it's Pirlo.

An aging fuck that played 90+ minutes in the CL final against a legendary team...that also logged the 2nd most distance in that game? That old fuck?

What young talent do you want? If you haven't realized yet...the good young talent's not coming here right now. People like you amuse me. Why is it that it's either all young or all old? Is it possible that you can have both?

But tell me...who do you want that we can get?

Btw. Pirlo hasn't said anything about leaving or staying, nor has his team. Juve's Beppe Marotta even said today, that he is hopeful that Pirlo returns and gave Tevez to the end of the week to decide.

Juve let Giovinco go because they had guys like Pirlo and Vidal and Tevez. Not a straight trade but Juve thought more of the aging star than the kid who is lighting up MLS right now.

To be fair, Giovinco is 28. Not old for Serie A but not a kid. I think MLS can become a destination for younger CONCACAF/CONMEBOL players as the league attracts more attention from Europe but right now, from a business perspective, guys like Villa and Pirlo make more sense.

Correct. Villa/Pirlo and Giovinco/Bradley are all worth $7 Million a year for different reasons.

K Kjbert H horseytweets NickA NickA If you want to settle whether or not Pirlo is a good enough player given his age all you really have to do is look at the fact that the team trying to get him instead of us is Juventus.

There are a group of teams in the world that I would say - if they are going after a player, I want that player. I don't need to know anything about that player. I don't need to know his history, or age, or anything else. Just that that other team wants him. No team is infallible. But certain teams get their talent decisions right way more often than not.

If Juve wants Pirlo, that's all the endorsement I need.

Oh yeah, and in this case I actually have seen him play and do know his history, and holy crap on a stick is this guy fantastic.

Maybe you haven't read my opinion, but I am all in on a Pirlo signing. I was not all in on a Drogba signing, but I have never wavered from the Pirlo bandwagon.

Absolutely. I think it was H horseytweets who was anti-Pirlo. I just tagged you because you were engaged in the debate. Figured you'd appreciate the comment. Didn't mean to imply you were on the dark side. (Same for NickA NickA.)

Wow, just came back from lunch to see all these quotes. Nice. I am anti-Pirlo. We have Lampard to "pass knowledge" to our current midfielder(s). And yes he played 90+ minutes in the Champions Final. Big deal. He didn't do anything IMO. Just running after a ball and cries cause his team lost.
Look, I'm all up building up a team with foreign talent but we already have Villa and Lampard. I like the new signing so far in Iraola and Angelino.
And now to answer what midfielder I would like, here are my picks: Fernando Reges (28), Tiago Mendes (34) and Blase Matuidi (28) but that wont happen anytime soon but its good to dream. LOL. Anyways why settle again for a 36 year old if we already have Lampard to fill that void?

I... uh... you... uh.... he... well....

There are so many wrong things in this post. I have no idea where to get started.

Marrotta actually said.... "As things stand today, there’s no reason for Pirlo to leave,"

That first part is a big difference.

Exactly and that is what I posted...but there are too many "NYCFC" Twitter accounts posing that they are in the know, but just rehash and repost everything they see. Same account that posted he signed an extension earlier. That's why I don't believe any of it unless it comes from the player or the team.

so you would take a 34 year old who isn't better than a 36 year old because he's younger?

I'm in pretty good shape and I'm 30. I bet Pirlo is in better shape than I am.

It's not like we're saying should we get a player of equal talent who is younger. You're suggesting an inferior talent because they are younger. None of the guys you mentioned will ever be as close to as good as Pirlo. We all disagree with you.

This is what we know.

  • Juve wants him back.
  • Pirlo has a year left on his contract.
  • NYCFC hasn't said a thing about Pirlo.
  • CFG hasn't said a thing about Pirlo.
  • Pirlo hasn't said a thing about NYCFC.
  • I am sure with a bunch of other teams, NYCFC expressed interest, as well they should with any and every high caliber player that might be available.
Pirlo openly likes NYC, so it makes sense to put him here if there is MLS talk, but so far, everyone available has been linked here. Speculation is that he got an offer from NYCFC and is contemplating staying in Juve or coming to America. Everything else is just bullshit.

That's it.
