This is why I like you. I can just make a quick stab at something, and you can come tease out all the fine points.
I was never good at showing my work. So you can imagine how much I loved law school.
I had to develop this. My first few years of practice I was totally big picture. I would write briefs that went straight to the key issue and ignored all the boring stuff. In one performance review they said I couldn't see the trees for the forest. Now it's second hand.
Meanwhile you write better than me when drunk. And I've got a decent wit but yours is Hattori Hanzo sharp.

I hope anyone who's followed American sports isn't surprised by this.

Especially if you follow New York sports teams.

How many times did the Yankees sign a player the coach didn't necessarily want or like just because he was a big name or had a great performance?

Don't tell me Tim Tebow or Michael Vick were there for anything besides headlines and jersey sales for the Jets.

Even on big international teams this happens. Look at Real Madrid. You think Ancelotti was begging for Keylor Navas or James Rodriguez?
It was the Rangers policy for years Gretzky, Lindros, Bure etc. That being said I really do expect big things from Pirlo on the field.

So the owners want to spend but the coach wanted a cheaper less well-known player.. Only at NYCFC
I'm not sure that's accurate. Pirlo won't cost a transfer fee, even if his salary's high.

As a result, it matters less to CFG when it comes to financial fair play.

A younger talent of similar quality would absolutely not be coming on a Bosman, so they'd cost a transfer fee. In all likelihood, if there was pushback from CFG on not signing a big name, younger player, that had something to do with it.

CFG is not affected by FFP.. One of their teams is, i.e Man City

This tweet pisses me off.

We've seen Kreis's attempts to build a roster, handling the MLS aspect of it. Every team in the league has someone who has the final say in transfer decisions. Our guy just happens to have experience doing it for Champions League teams. It only makes sense that he would handle things in the broader world market.

What the hell is wrong with people? He made a decision I hate before. He looks to have made a good decision here.

These people want to push their narrative so hard, they force the story even in the face of a fantastic signing.

Kreis shouldn't be making DP decisions right now. We've all agreed Lagerway built his prior team. Don't play into these media trolls.

They would shit on us for something, no matter what.

Agreed. Also, if the NYCFC staff didn't want Pirlo, then they should all be replaced. What young DP is there that would be a better fit than Pirlo? None. This team is building around young and experienced players. Nothing wrong with that.

I was concerned that I wouldn't have a go-to game day shirt over the summer as my two long sleeve authentics are likely summoned to the closet by the summer heat - that was until the only-minutes-ago order of the No Pirlo No Party shirt. Done, ready and all set.

Davo15 Davo15 I don't think they care.

Italians here watch the Yankees. Their parents and that generation watch Juve or Milan

Case in point - guy I work with. He's 45. His cousin is 45. They bought their dads tickets to see NYCFC in late July because he saw the news that Pirlo was (probably) coming. The dads are Milano and root for Milan. The sons could care less.

I will have to disagree here. I'm a first generation Italian-American, and I can tell you that my family is going nuts over this, even the folks who are just casual fans of Serie A teams. This is a big deal for us. For one of the greats to come play here is huge, and many of them have expressed that they're going to start following NYCFC if he signs.

Sounds like there's a free vacation for someone in this deal.

In all seriousness, I honestly don't see why CFG would make that deal. It defies all logic to me. Since I don't think Soriano is an illogical person, I have to question it.

Nevertheless, thank you for the updates.

Yeah, and why do something like that again after Lampardgate. If Soriano is a good business man, and it seems like he is, I don't see how they would do this again to us. It would seriously jeopardize the future of NYCFC and its name.

You sure that's the case? I've heard a wide variety of reports that it isn't, and that NYCFC's transfer spend has an impact on Manchester City's (and vice versa).

Really ? I wouldn't imagine them sharing the same bank account

No it doesn´t.. Just a team playing in Uefa can be affected at all

You think Hernandez will give the number 21 to Pirlo , club ask him too or Pirlo chooses a new number for a new league ?

I'm sure it's like any other locker room. Incoming guy asks for it if he really wants it and usually offers something as a nice gesture to thank the other player.
