Good question. I think for the team, it's probably best to have a destroyer. If you guys think DDR is that guy, I'm on board.

But for me, I would rather win 5-3 than 2-1. Give me another attacking player. Maybe a RW.

But if you look at how this team has been assembled, everyone has come on a free. I would be focusing on guys out of contract around Europe for the next DP. If not Xavi, who still makes the most sense for a myriad of reasons, guys like Mikel Arteta should have been in the plans, but he just signed a 1 year extension today. Flamini would be available on a free, however. I just can't see them buying a guy. I don't know.
Like you said before, there really isn't reason to be too hyped about DDR because there aren't any concrete rumors.. But the reason I get excited any way is because DDR is that "destroyer" player.. but he would also help elevate the attack to the next level as well. What he still does better than anybody in the game is win the ball and play it forward in transition, which is something that could be vital to our team.

I don't think they're going to add another English or Spanish player for the 3rd DP spot. The club has been strategic from a business standpoint in bringing in players that of course would be good on the pitch but also bring in a wide fan base from New York. Those who watch EPL would enjoy Lampard. Those who root for Spain want Villa. So they don't want to overlap. Maybe an Italian player, maybe someone from South America.

I'm trying to think of a South American player who is on the verge of the next step of his career. Kaka was a masterful signing for Orlando. I can't think of another Brazilian of that ilk right now. Forlan is over the hill for Uruguay. Is there a Colombian or Argentinean that is 30ish towards the end of a deal? When does Mascherano finish his contract?

I would love to see Hulk come play for us he's playing in Russia and their economy is crumbling and simply can't afford their players.

Hey here is a name that could be a good signing. What about Nigel De Jong? He is a specialist at the Defensive Mid position, he is only 30 years old, has experience playing the style of play that we want since he played at Man City, He plays for the Dutch national team (I know a lot of people have been asking to give some homage to New Yorks Dutch past), and his contract will run out in the summer

Edit: one thing I find interesting is that even though he is known to be a rock in the midfield, it's reported that he hasn't received a red card IN 8 YEARS!

Yes if we can't get DDR, I'm all for NDJ. He's as tough as they come and would be our midfield anchor. Love the guy.

Thats pretty crazy, to be honest. Although he should have received one in the '10 WC final :p

I hate him for that karate kick on Xabi Alonso

I know that looked awful and I'm sure he meant no hostility in it. He admitted the fact that he should've been booked for it. Also he has came out and apologized for tackles that have injured people (such as Ben Arfa). I honestly don't believe he is a bad guy, just that he is a very physical player
