A young, attacking player who can take pressure off of Villa and grow into being the face of the franchise.

Terrence Boyd is a name that would make sense.

I still think it is Mix for a number of reasons. There is smoke there.

Yeah, I agree. A striker would benefit villa a lot, allowing him to score more. You put him up there with a guy who isn't quality, and then the defensive is gonna be all over villa. You can see how frustrated henry gets not playing next to a quality striker with him.

Boyd or Altidore would be fantastic. I think Jozy is possible. He isn't happy in england.

Villa AND Xavi would just be crazy. Both already have great chemistry together, and would walk into the league as two of the best players.

I have a good feeling about this happening.
Question is, IF xavi signs, do we go for another striker and go for a 4-4-2. Or Do we go for another attacking mid or defensive mid and go for the 4-3-3 formation which has had little success in mls.
I know where you are going with this but this seems to scream it's going be the "3 DPs and random MLS players" show. You can't think like that. Yes players like Villa & Xavi are amazing talents and WC champs, but at the end of the day it's the regulars that will see you through to a Cup run.

You don't need a 2nd forward DP to justify a 2 striker formation. It's entirely possible NYCFC plays a 4-4-2 and it's Kenny Cooper or Robbie Findley up top with Villa and that's okay. ;)

I know I have been saying the next Dp's should be an attacking mid and a defensive mid. But the more I think about it, if we sign Xavi, How awesome would it be to have Villa, Altidore, and Xavi in our attack? A three headed beast we would have.

-----------Villa------------Altidore-----------------
-------------------Xavi-----------------------------

But then again, Xavi would be best suited for a 4-3-3 next to a defensive mid and a guy who can go box to box. So the smartest choice would be to have a guy who can cover a lot of field next to him, like mix diskerud.

sounds amazing! I still think that we should invest on defense! The three pillars of our team: defense, midfield and offense.

What about the player following NYCFC thing?
Saritama from the Ecuadorean WC squad also followed us a couple days ago

well, Lampard is not that bad fellas, he doesn´t have the marketing power of Xavi but still is a good option. I still think that our third DP should be a defensive player or a young player (in any position of the field). If we sign with Lampard, I don´t think that guys like Gilardino would or Pizarro would help as much as a young player to be a franchise guy!

Before the World Cup I considered Lugano a solid option, however after the games, there´s a reason why West Brom released him and I don´t think is a good idea NYCFC find out why hehehe

One player that impressed me immensely this WC is Fabian Johnson. The dude can play!
I don't think anyone covered as much distance as him. He was making runs every time we went forward and put some great balls in the box. Plus he has a killer left foot. I think it was the Portugal ... Or maybe Ghana game when he was taking some shots from distance.

You and everyone else. He's possibly a top ten RB in the world the last 6 months. He's blossomed after moving there at club. And his left foot is amazing, particularly considering that it's his off foot. US supporters always thought he was a lefty just because he's so good with it.

The problem there is, he's too much of a luxury player for the MLS structure given his position. He signed with M'Gladbach earlier this year, but I'm not so sure that an ECL team won't try to buy him after the World Cup. He'd be a beast at LFC making counter attacks. Definitely would be an upgrade from Johnson in that he doesn't dwell on the ball. He gets to danger spots and makes decisions.

Actually I think Michael Bradley has outrun everyone in this World Cup so far. Not surprising, dude is a training hoss (remember that beep test stuff a month ago?). But you're right, Fabian can play. Honestly, no one on the USA team has made me think they would be anything other than an asset at any team they play at. They're all really good.

Plenty of players that have impressed in the WC.. I get greedy watching them all :D

I wish Bradley didn't go to Toronto. He could have been the face of this franchise for many years.

As a Roma fan I was extremely surprised he went back to MLS at all. He wasn't a starter but he would have gotten good minutes with Strootman's injury. He also had some other offers from other teams like Hellas Verona and I think a couple teams in the EPL were interested.

But I guess no one was willing to match the amount that Toronto were willing to pay.

Exactly. Besides pay, he also faced the bench at Roma vs "a player" at moderate euro team vs face of a club/league. Easy choice to me.
