Why would we offer DP money to a goalie who's probably getting calls from teams in the big 4.

He's a solid keeper...would've won ROY in 2012 but got hurt halfway through.
 
It's hard to tell. The idea that Lampard will sign soon is very believable. The idea that he will go to Melbourne has been mooted. Technically in the A-League you can only have one "guest player" (a 10-game signing entirely outside of the cap) per season and loan rules are virtually non-existent, and while this was originally assumed to be Villa people have commented that actually there has been conspicuously no mention of the actual contract status of Villa in Melbourne. As a result, people are starting to conclude that City have somehow found a way to persuade the A-League to let them have more than one short-term signing. Given this increasing belief, the idea of Lampard going to the A-League for half a season is more believable now than I would've given it credit for three months ago.

At the end of the day, though, I am always a strong believer in the notion that nothing is 100% certain until the club confirms it, so I guess time will have to tell.

Yeah the Lampard rumors are really kicking into high gear and a lot of people (A-league as well) are reporting on it. Same as with Villa so hopefully it's true.
 
Well we officially announced we made an offer to Xavi...Let's see what happens now. With almost signing Lampard Xavi would probably be our final DP...
 
I would absolutely love some of these algerian players. So much heart and team spirit. Id love halliche on this team. Their defense was solid vs Germany.
 
Signing both Lampard and Xavi just won't work. Neither are exactly mobile and will not work hard defensively. It's fine to have one player in the middle who is lax defensively if there are players around to cover him. But two is just too many
 
I'm probably just a worry wort and glass-half-empty guy, but all this smells a awful like Dallas signing Denilson or TFC signing Torsten Fringes. I want Lampard and even Xavi to prove me wrong, Both of them? NYC is out of DPs already and those are the 3 they went with?
