I think he should switch to a 3-5-2 anyway.

If it means one less of Winger/Brovsky in the starting 11, then yes. Totally fine with Wingert/Hernandez/Facey

but I don't see how we could do that without a healthy Calle. Calle as a LWB - and who as the RWB? Shelton? Mix? Eek. would make sense though I guess if your midfield as Pirlo, Lampard and Jacobson.

That's the thinking.

What about a 3-5-2 where Villa is a stand alone striker, but Lampard or Mix play off him as a secondary striker? I know that's crazy, but I don't see Mix playing as a WB. He has the work rate, but I just don't see it. I guess Shelton would make more sense, but nothing he has done has shown me he could possibly cross a ball into the box, which would be a necessity.

Not every one can just switch into a 3 man backline. Wingert would NOT be able to play LCB in a 3 man back line, unless you want to give up 6 goals a game. Hernandez cannot distribute or defend well enough to play sweeper, and who knows about Facey, he wasn't great at full back, why do you think he could play RCB? You need the right players to play 3 back, and we dont even have the right players for a 4 man backline, let alone 3. Notwithstanding the fact that we literally have zero wide midfielders who could be expected to play wingback.

the variation of pulling the mids to fullbacks is more like a 5-3-2. I'm just thinking if we get another Mid in here, who's playing where? I'd rather stack the middle, control against the counter, play defensive possession and attack via the counter. Have 2 DM deep 1 up top attacking and 2 wide with speed, playing both ways.

But you are right. We don't even have the right players to even run a 4-4-2 which is the most basic of formations. Our L/R backs aren't good enough to push the ball forward. So it's not like we are killing it with 4 in the back. A center triangle with Lamp/Poku in the back and Mix up top playing behind Villa/Mullins could be very interesting. It's not like what we are doing is working. Whatever, just a thought.

On another note...all the Italian reports are Pirlo to stay, Tevez to leave. Let's just get Tevez and let him run wild on the league. Picture a MLS team trying to defend a Lamp/Villa/Tevez attack lol.

Tevez to Athleti per Diego Simeone. Working out the details now.

Jacobson to sweeper. Mullins / Shelton and Calle at wingback. Wingbacks don't have to cross all the time. Look at what Ibe or Lallana do in that role. They don't swing in crosses. Mullins can take people on, Shelton can kick it by them and chase.

Tevez said no to Atletico Madrid today. He still hasn't decide if he's leaving, but he's apparently said if he does leave it will only be for Boca.
That's my thinking too. No reason for Tevez to go to Madrid.

Bongani Khumalo?

You're kidding right? He's so shit he never played for Spurs in 4 years.

He was a solid defender at Wigan. Don't recall him playing much at Everton.

Still, he can't be any worse than Wingert.

There was a reason he didn't get many minutes at Everton, you're right though he was solid at Wigan and is definitely better than what we have, even if he couldn't cut it in the prem

Ian Joy said young, building for the future, (and in a forward position)...Gedion Zelalem (US U20 and Arsenal). He's probably not worthy of DP money yet, but it fits the bill.
