He would be a great signing but he seems pretty important to Birmingham nowadays. Is DP money worth it for him? What about Will Packwood as a Young DP? Has experience with Claudio Reyna. Would only cost 200k against the cap even if the team had to purchase him.
A Young DP Cap hit of $150K is just that, a cap hit. NYC might actually be paying him a milion a year, but according to the cap its only 150k. 150k cap hit on AJ is just that, his total salary. But so far you only have 3 chances to do it and NYCFC has used up 2 of them already. What's the difference between the Jacobson 150k cap hit and a Young DP 150k cap hit? Not that you could get a Brooks or Rubin, but I would prefer them at 150k in cap space.
Unless the new CBA changes things.Yeah young DP does count against the total.

Cool, then we can end up like the NASL. No thanks. Lets go for a mild trot as opposed to walking, running or standing still. I am hoping for at least 1 more DP, possibly limited to only North American players. Any more and it will be too much too fast. Not every owner has the wallet or stomach that CFG does to burn through money.I am really hoping so. I think this league is ready to handle 5-6 DP's. Could do 3 non american and 3 american Dps. Or 3 Over 25 dps and 3 under 25 dps.
And of course the cap needs to be raised. It's time for this league to put its big boy pants on.
What I would like to see would be any means that allows the club to pay real wages to younger players, both those ready for first team games and those still developing. That's the best way to incentivize clubs building development academies that support long-term quality in the league. It seems to me that youth player investments provide the greatest opportunity for exponential returns. I like the idea of a full exemption for young players (particularly Aemrican players) who spend over X years in the club's DA. I'd also like to see sales of those players abroad add cap relief in some way, either through proportional cap exemptions for transfer fees received for homegrowns or greater allocation of the allocation monies.Cool, then we can end up like the NASL. We are going way off topic, but don't MLS clubs already get exceptions to HG and youth, they get salary relief and they get a big chuck of the eventual transfer fee. Are you saying they just need to buff it up or is that not what you are talking about?
Orlando even has one: http://uslpro.uslsoccer.com/home/846499.htmland RedBulls Academy has 4 US U-20s btw...
I think I agree. I think they want a American from Europe, thats why they grabbed the Allocation tie-breaker.Mix Diskerud played his last game in Norway today. Went the full 90 in a win. Rosenborg finished the season in Second Place.
If the money makes sense, HE WILL play in MLS next season. His father needs to stop acting on his behalf.
