Ok. So if you get a 4th DP, then we can expect to start the season with only 3 DPs. From there, you are looking at making an addition over the summer - which isn't bad when you consider guys like Ale Bedoya may be looking for new employment.

We could be looking at a high quality midfield with all the names we are being linked to, Bedoya, Xavi, Mix etc. Again not saying its going to happen, but we are obviously looking down that department.

Could we get him to sign for non DP money and compensate him with sexy bottle waitresses in Queens?

Of course we could but my only concern would be making sure these waitresses have gone thorough background checks and making sure they aren't originally from other places... say Jersey.

The problem is I have a hard time seeing it will be a draw on TV. Americans are just learning about EPL and other European leagues but have no clue about Liga MX or CONMEBOL leagues. I couldn't name you a single South American club today. How does Fox Sports get people to tune in to an MLS v. side no one's ever heard of?
To be fair most Americans don't know the European teams outside of the EPL and La liga. Most couldn't tell you who Ajax or Borussia Dortmund are for example.

And yes I know I'm very late just reading through here lol

Just read Columbus were in attendance to watch Mix this weekend.

They are 4th in the USMNT allocation order. Wishful thinking, are we looking at others or what would it cost them to acquire #1 from us?

My thinking was always you don't get the #1 slot unless you plan on using it.

I saw an alert and thought "Have I posted there?" lol

As to your point, look at the UCL matches that get top billing in the US (ie on Fox Sports 1) . They're almost always an EPL, La Liga or Bayern Munich. Maybe some Juventus thrown in every now or then. They push the big draws.

For CONCACAF CL, the problem is that even a Galaxy don't have the drawing power of Braca or Real or Man United. Even when two well known MLS teams face off, the TV numbers can be good and are getting better, but are rarely spectacular . MLS v. completely unknown side isn't going to be pretty.

Yea sorry :p Went looking through the old posts and saw that and replied then forgot that the post was made months ago lol. I agree with you though, right now the ratings need to improve for MLS before we try to face some unknown South American team even if they are a quality club. I do think the ratings will just continue to gradually grow however.

And that's the thing. The ratings will grow, especially as the time slot becomes more permanent and fans have an easier time knowing when there will be national soccer on. In a decade or so, you may have the base in MLS to pursue stronger CCL opportunities on TV. But right now, MLS has to focus on MLS.
