Seems odd that ManCity and CFG would allow Balotelli to come back to the "family". Besides, is DP3 Balotelli? I thought we were convinced its a #10 attacking mid?

I thought we were just told DP #3 would be an attacking player? Do we know specifically what spot he would be in?

There's not a chance that CFG would go back in for Balotelli. Besides, when Liverpool finally get sick of him, I reckon he'll push for a return to Italy.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him sign for an MLS club, frankly. The guy is basically still a kid. For all of the reasons discussed, I would suspect MLS may be extremely attractive to him. LAG, LAFC or NYRB have the money, as do several other clubs (Beckham's group in particular would seem a decent fit given locale).

He needs a place where he can be a star and still "blend in". I can't see a better fit than MLS. Why go back to a league and country to face some of the issues that exist there (don't want to mention them specifically because they are highly charged topics) when you could choose among cities quite used to superstar athletes of practically any ethnicity and brashness.

If Randy Moss can play for Bill Bellichik, I am convinced there's got to a place for pretty much anyone somewhere. Mario just needs to find his. He seems fairly bright, and I'd like to see him do well because I hate seeing talent squandered. And make no mistake that he is extremely talented. And despite his past issues, he looks to be putting in the work rate Rodgers has asked of him. I just think he's extremely sensitive and would do well to find a home in a city that wasn't so intensely focused on footy.

I agree it likely won't be at NYCFC, but if it were, I'd buy his shirt because, hell yes, he'll score 25 goals. Villa and Mario as a strike team would be thunder and lightning on the pitch. I'd much rather see him in our shirt than some old retread like Fernando Torres. Mario checks all the boxes for me on the pitch, so it's just too bad that he had a shit run with another CFG club.

Is it too much to ask for Ibra to get fed up with everything and come over in the summer window? He's one of only 3 guys who would more significantly move the needle than Mario from a star-power perspective. But I definitely couldn't see Kreis handling him. Although I wouldn't have guessed Petke would have had the balls to bench Henry last year either, so my thoughts are likely worth what you're paying for them.

On a funny to me at least note, when writing this post, I had brief thoughts of Caleb Porter trying to handle Balotelli. You think he'd just constantly give the sad kid look a la the post-all star match Pep snub? That shit would make for great reality TV.

I am really on the fence about Balotelli. I personally am a huge fan of him. He is entertaining on and off the pitch. But that being said, I have enjoyed him while he has been at arms distance. It would be hard to say how he would be viewed here in the US. Let's face it, athletes here can get away with a lot more off the field craziness. Ive watched videos about his off the field antics and a decent amount of them i've been like, "Yeah... so.... he hasn't gotten anything on Chad Ochocinco, Dennis Rodmon, or Terrell Owens." The only thing I would be worried about would be his ability to get along with the players and that I am very insure of. I think NYC would be a perfect fit for him, but could we get him to calm the heck down when it comes to cooperating with the team. No doubt he'd be arguably the best player in the league, but would he be worth sacrificin team chemistry for it? I would say that it is probably a mute point anyways because I don't know if CFG would be willing to thow more money at Balotelli after his flop at ManCity. Just food for thought

Very good post. I withheld Repping for a day due to a word usage pet peeve, then decided it was moot to be so pedantic, especially when I have at least one post that I made while...over-served...that auto-correct rendered incomprehensible to even me.

I seriously doubt he comes to MLS because as many have said if he does leave liverpool he will most likely want to go back to Italy. Plus the drama that may come from his off field activities may be unwelcome attention for the higher ups of the club.

Does he really want to go back to Italy? The same place that made him cry 1 out of every 3 games due to the overwhelming racism he's faced?
And the scary (as well as disgusting) part is it wasn't only coming from the a-holes in the stands, but from management types too.

Liverpool must really have no want to use Balotelli. They aren't even using him on the bench in today's champions League game vs ludogorets

In the Balotelli article comments I pointed out that any deal could initially be for a year. That way he could return to Europe at his behest or terminate any further options if it didn't go well. You have to think of the potential rewards and how the hell can he be considered a failure at Liverpool after 3 months? He wasn't a failure during his previous stint in English football either. Guy has more personality (not to mention ability) than some MLS squads put together.

Los Angeles might be more likely in 3 years depending on how his career goes. If Las Vegas ever get rewarded a MLS spot then they certainly should try to sign him. Can you imagine that combustible combination? I don't think he will end up at NYCFC (and that's not because they couldn't make it happen) but everybody should want him to end up in MLS. The leagues health is crucial to NYCFC's health besides the fact NYCFC must be the least likely club to collapse. There's a damn good chance Chivas will be the last.

Lets say there is a lot of success for NYCFC in first few years and how much it will draw on its own. Reasonable growth probably wouldn't be good enough for the "powers that be" so where do you look then? PERSONALITIES! I believe MLS will truly become mainstream with big personalities as well as improving play (and youth demographics)

Balotelli would either make us a nightmare to defend, or possibly destroy our team chemistry alone.... He's certainly an interesting player.

My money is on destroy.... He has huge ability when he is not sulking and just walking around the pitch.... He laid on the goal for our first league win..... but he one of the players most likely to disappear out of a game I have ever known.

Personally I think he would be a good player for most second or third rate outfits.... NYCFC and the MLS are to good for his attitude

Here are two articles from Skyscraper Blues about players we could get:
Kelechi Iheanacho

http://skyscraperblues.com/2014/11/27/nycfc-consider-potential-loan-target-kelechi-iheanacho/

Leo Stolz

http://skyscraperblues.com/2014/11/26/mls-superdraft-prospects-nycfc-consider-leo-stolz/?utm_source=FanSided&utm_medium=Network&utm_campaign=Trending on FS

For me: Iheanacho seems to be a top prospect for MCFC, will they let him develop in the US? Stolz looks raw but strong on the ball.
I agree that Stolz has potential but I think his biggest problem is that he could count as a international being a German. Considering how big a deal those slots will be for NYCFC and its non-Americans I can't imagine they would spend it on a college player.

I'll be surprised if he returns to Italy anytime soon. He's already burned bridges at two of the three biggest teams in the country, and was basically kicked off the national team after the Euro's

I hope he's never on a team that I support.
