Patrick Vieira Appointed As NYCFC Coach

Somewhat refreshing to see two brits taking the piss out of each other.... and I don't mean that tongue-in-cheek to be a chuckle-type post. I'm always curious what the MCFC supporters think of the CFG arrangement and it's good to know there are differing perspectives on the team structure and hierarchy.

But please, don't let me stop you, carry on.....
You lost me a bit mate nobody taking the piss ?

Sorry mate Jason is far too good a player for mls.the smart money would go on martin demichalis finnishing at nyfc

This is more or less true. some people might have taken issue with the tone or that it's coming from a Manchester fan but Denayer had a choice between Galatasary and Marseille this year. I hope (despite Marseille being my French team since I studied there a few years back) that we'll some day be at least as big as either of these two but that day is not today.

I actually loathe college sports lol.
College sports are the absolute best.

No jaded, over-the-hill athletes hanging on. Just young kids playing with pure passion.

No contracts and crap. Ronaldo could play for MC because there's no loyalty, just money.

In college, there's all loyalty and (in theory) no money. No trading away your favorite players. No watching your favorite players get old and shitty.

Plus, the most inexplicable shit happens in college games of any sport. You do yourself a huge disservice not watching college sports.

But I digress...

I, too, prefer college to professional across the board save for soccer.

Not as sure on viera as you mate he's only coached the kids since Lombardo left.
Think his big plus at city was his name and his ability to attract youngsters to city

On this, I'm with you. I'm happy for Vieira and now he's the manager I will support him. I don't believe he's totally inept, by any means, just no shining star, so I still have belief that he can be a successful manager. However, I do agree that Wilcox has shown the more promise of the two senior academy managers. I hope he gets the EDS job and steps up further.

It's a bigger business than professional sports in some aspects. It puts athletics over education. The kids are pawns to a system built on patting themselves on their backs being masters of the universe. As a whole it's the biggest sham out there. You are being naive to think it's about loyalty not money. It's a shady greedy business. At least with professional sports I know where the money goes....but that's just my opinion.

I think having played under the managers he has and achieved all he has in the game he stands a good chance of being successful.
However most managers bring their trusted team of coaches and assistants with them, not sure who will come with him tho ?
I'm thinking will lampard or pirlo step up as coaches or will martin demichelis or possibly kolo toure come across with him.
Demichelis would be an incredible signing even at his age I've never seen a centre half read a game so well and he's easily been the best defender at city for the last two years.

The one thing Man City fans have to understand is that we only have 3 places for players who make more than ~450K/year. So we can't just get random players. That's why they're so important. That's part of the reason why we made such a big deal apart Lampard missing most of the season. So unless Demi takes a ridiculous pay cut we can't sign him as our 3 Designated Player spots are occupied.

Anything is possible with a little creative accountancy ,shifting the Spanish right back who's been a bit of a dud, bringing him over on loan ,paying him as a coach ,or just keeping him on cfgs books as say head scout or something it could be done if they wanted to do it somehow

The entire rule structure is designed to counteract exactly that situation. The only exception is the EDS players. The only reason the EDS players get an exception is because that was a special contractual item for CFG when they made their franchise investment.

I'm certain there's an agreement in place for Yaya Toure to go to NYCFC once his current City deal finishes and he will also do coaching.

JGarrettLieb has a point. MLS has proven itself very good at reacting to situations and altering the rules to prevent loophole abuse. If CFG try to find a way to accommodate Demichelis like this without making him a DP (and thus getting rid of one of the existing ones first) then simply put, they will fail. The salary cap, love it or hate it, is sacrosanct in this league.

Do you have a source for the coaching story? I simply can't see Yaya going into coaching. I don't think he has the right temperament for it. Honestly, I see Yaya as the kind of guy who doesn't want to stay in the game once he's hung up his playing boots. The most I see him doing is that Club Ambassador role that his agent talked about (which I'm pretty sure was just posturing, anyway, as I'm not even sure he'd be a good Ambassador).

I won't lie but I do have my ear to the ground but I won't ever say anything that tries to make me ITK because those are getting few and far between now.The interest in the MLS and I've found this artice from a couple of weeks ago where Vincent Kompany is talking up the MLS and with our links anything is possible now.

As for Yaya I was told that it's part of his agreement to see out his contract with City that he could move to the MLS to play and have a coaching role.

Here's the Viincent Kompany article..

Oh, Gavin, the world must be so blissful to you. You know what they say about bliss, right?

I never said those things and what's more I said (referring to the athletes because my entire post was regarding the athletes):

In college, there's all loyalty and (in theory) no money.

And for many students there is no money. Which is why they are exploited as you reaffirmed.

So you were agreeing with me but are now imaging you've somehow disagreed with me....because, well, you're a very "blissful" person.

I Belivieira.

Martin wouldn't be on anything like dp money ,if red bulls could find a way of paying SWP was he a dp ? Maybe NYC could do the same I'm sure martin could be compensated by cfg in some other way than direct mls salary ?
