All for it. It's a solid location that's in dire need of development. the stadium would have a very positive economic impact in surrounding areas. Ease of access to Nassau and Suffolk. Not that it matters too much, but it's also very close to JFK which could benefit visiting teams and fans.So Queens Supporters, what is your thoughts on the talk of a stadium at Aqueduct?
There is a "NYCFC Stadium at Aqueduct" Facebook page in support of the idea.
Not sure if you guys are ticket holders or not. I remember a few months back they sent out a survey ( I believe it was for season ticket holders) and there were quite a few questions about a future stadium. I wonder what a majority of those answers were and if they are taking any of those answers into account for anything. Personally and maybe it's because I live here but, I think Queens would be the best location for the stadium in terms of drawing in fans and or people who might be interested and come check out the MLS.
That is why I am so for the Aqueduct location, it will get the stadium built quickest since the site is already zoned for sports, the less red tape the better. The longer they take to finalize a spot, the higher the chances they will be playing musical chairs with host venues for the foreseeable future.Like I mentioned in the stadium thread, if this means that they can build a SSS easier, faster and cheaper, then I'm 100% behind it. No location will be perfect for everyone. Being in a SSS as soon as possible is very important.
that will be about my time from Gravesend to Yankee stadium or to Aqueduct. Not happy about it. I live in Astoria and do not have a car. It will take me about an hour and 25 minutes to get there while having to take 3 different subways. It is exactly the same ride to get to Red Bull Arena. Yankee stadium takes about 40 minutes. Much better commute for me.
If it goes through I will have to find someone to carpool with I suppose. Kinda sucks.
I', in Brooklyn, so neither Bronx or Queens is my borough, from growing up in southern Queens, and going to Jr. High in Ozone Park and elementary school in Howard Beach, I know how much good the venue and team could do there.Like people have said, some people will be upset the stadium isn't in their borough, others will be thrilled it's close to home. Aqueduct isn't my ideal location, but it's in the boroughs and won't take 5yrs of litigation, environmental impact studies, low-income housing and a host of other things that every developer is held hostage to in this city.
