Revs Postmatch

Sorry if i missed this somewhere but, why did Bravo get that red card?
I still don't think anybody knows. Haven't heard much from MLS on it either. FWIW, in the recap on mlssoccer.com, this is what was noted...

" including a red card to Federico Bravo for a reckless challenge in the 86th minute."

Yet anyone who watched the game obviously knows that Bravo won the ball and looked to be the one who was actually fouled.

I really try and not live in the world of hyperboles, but I honestly think that was one of the most dumbfounded referee decisions I have ever seen. How Bravo was given a straight red on a play where myself (and I'm quite certain almost everyone else) thought that he was the one fouled still blows my mind.

No way that is a foul on Bravo. No way is that a yellow on Bravo. No way is that a second yellow on Bravo. How the hell was it a straight red?

I know Bravo can be quite a dick on the field, but come on.......

I spent the 5 minutes after the call yelling at Joe Toleson to shut up. That it was stupid of him to keep talking about the red card being for the play on the field. That such a call was impossible. That it had to be for the way he threw that water bottle or something he said or anything else. But no way could it have been for the play on the field.

Apparently, I was wrong. Joe was right. Mystifying.

Agreed. Especially because Kofie was doing his play-acting afterwards to feign injury. He looked around, and then quickly rubbed his shin furiously in an effort to display pain. Then the magical water spray by the teammate on the leg - that action has been confirmed by not only modern science, but more importantly by anybody ever hurt - to not work; water on the surface of the skin does not repair trauma. It does however convince unfit & girdle-wearing referee that said player was fouled when said player's foot struck opposing player's leg after the ball was passed successfully to opposing player's teammate.

Just rewatched it too for the first time since Saturday. All I can say is I'm grateful we were down 2 with 5 to go or I would have been well and truly pissed. Also, grateful this call goes against a player who almost certainly wasn't seeing the pitch for us next game anyway.

Agreed. There would be a monumentally bigger stink being made about this had it happened earlier in the game or it was a tied game.

NYCFC Intern, please convey this message to Patrick Vieira: NYCFC is 0-5-3 when Mendoza starts.

I've been saying Mendozza can't start for weeks. Now I see this stat you post. WOW! It's incredible how good Mendozza is at *#*#^#^ up scoring opportunities
