I want a stadium that both hovers in the sky and goes under water.
And comes to my house to pick me up.

Some stadiums are multi-purpose, right? Like they'll be set up for football/baseball, soccer/baseball, basketball/hockey, football/track, etc.
I think we can still use the Bronx site! Let's just build the soccer stadium INSIDE the elevator factory! It can be an elevator factory by day, and a world class soccer stadium by night. It'll be like one of those cool warehouse clubs in Williamsburg.

It would be fun to have a stadium that's partially underground like Camden Yards in Baltimore. The sound advantage in those things is incredible.
For even the most bullish of us, I can't see a solution in the next 18 months. Which means what? 3-4 years of planning and construction?
Could they do the design work ahead of time? That way when they get the site, they can get to work quickly?

They could not do much. From what I understand, the specific site plays a huge impact on design and especially the specific blueprint of a stadium. The specific type of soil, along with other underground infrastructure, plays such a huge role in the design that they need to wait for a site to do any significant planning work. However, I am not an engineer so maybe it's easier than I assume.
Who was the mayor when the most recent Madison square garden was built? Who was the mayor when the Arthur Ashe tennis center was built?

The Qatar stadium isn't actually hovering, it's just on top of all the dead bodies that built it.

Just searched the transcript for "stadium" "football" "NYCFC" or any other term related to MLS, NYCFC, Soccer, Stadium, etc. and nothing comes up. I guess that World Cup ball in the promo video was for nothing, big let down on part of the Mayor, again.

They should offer to name the stadium after the elevator guy. I bet he would sell then.
Little tough on DeBlasio to claim he let you down because you read something into the fact that there was a soccer ball on a shelf in the background of a video he made.
