Stadium Discussion

I wanna see Safe Standing at the stadium.

If I remember reading correctly, at least one MLS SG pushed for them in their stadium but when the club looked into it, it ended up being against that state's building or fire codes. I'm not sure if they would be allowed in NY or not.

they better

NYCFC should just put the stadium they want to build in Staten Island. I know it would be hard commute for some or even most people, but at the same time they would easily be able to build a state of the art stadium with parking lot. What I really care for is to keep it in the 5 boroughs bc than it wouldn't be NYC .

No way haha. Call it SIFC then. You'll lose the majority of the fan base.

what about parlaying that partnership with Yankees and rebuilding the SI Yankees stadium for soccer specific stadium and move the short season A team... the stadium would be on the water overlooking downtown manhattan a ferry ride away (which serves booze) - i dont think thats such a terrible option.........

No room. Any surrounding land is already earmarked for something else. They're constructing some sort of huge mall on one side of the stadium and they're in the planning stages of putting some sort of gigantic ferris wheel (like the one they have in London) on the other.

Putting a stadium on Staten Island would be somewhat similar to the one they have in Harrison. IOW, a state of the art facility that would be a huge pain in the ass to get to.

Obviously not happening, but they have leveled a bunch of land next to the Barclays Center (for housing I'm sure) that would have been a pretty awesome location. You could definitely get a pretty good size stadium in there.

EDIT:
Looking at google maps, that's where the LIRR comes out. NEVERMIND haha

Why can't they build over something. The elevator company and those parking lots are only 2 stories tall. There are buildings above the FDR and Cross Bronx that were build long ago. todays building practices should allow a stadium to be built over something.

Central Park needs a soccer stadium, I've been saying this for years. Forget about parking lots and feasibility, just image a stadium in Central Park, it would be the coolest thing ever and have the best views of any stadium in the MLS.

Air rights. You would need to buy the air rights. So if the elevator man won't sell the building then he probably won't sell the air rights (which are more expensive FYI)

Yes you would have to by the air rights.
Are air rights really more expensive than ground? Crazy
