Summer Transfer Window

Lol there's some real gem peeping Lampard opportunities in those renderings. If I wasn't on a new crappy work tablet I'd be all over having Lampard peeping at those stock rendering people on exercise machines.

You guys should really be focusing on who is available on a free in the summer of 2017. From what I can surmise, these are your options:

Arjen Robben
Mario Gotze
Frank Ribery
Ilkay Gundogan (if he isn't sold this summer)
Kelechi Iheanacho (wants 100k a week)
Jese (Real Madrid)
Santi Cazorla

The name that immediately jumps to you is Mario Gotze. Would be the most incredible signing in MLS history, outside of Beckham.
Iheanacho's current deal runs until 2019, had problems with which agent had the rights to represent him or something thats what his contract has been delayed.

I really can't see much movement this summer other than Mena, hopefully Lampard, and possibly Poku. The team has some good chemistry going. We should sell Mena and Poku and use that GAM and whatever else TAM we have to sign a beast winger that will become a DP next year and then get the best possible player we can at DP regardless of position.

The only realistic ones are Robben, Ribery, Cazorla from that list. All the others are not even in their prime yet or are just entering it and have plenty of more UCL football to play. Why would they join MLS now?

If speed is a virtue to make the starting 11, and we already have Pirlo (bless his heart) doing his slow but gut-busting sprints, then Cazorla isn't the answer. Robben or Ribbery fit the bill, but Ribbery is a D-Bag so Midas Mulligan may not sign off on it.

There have been rumors linking Goetze and MLS before. I would sign up for Robben or Cazorla. I know most people here wouldn't because of their age.

Eventually, one of these young superstars will come to MLS. It may be Goetze. Why not?

Another name that was close last year is Wes Sneijder.

I could see Coloccini entertaining MLS offers once Newcastle trims the fat. Not saying I'd want any part of that, though.

Robben and Cazorla at 32 in 2017 is just fine on my mind. It's when we're linked with players 35+(outside of Zlatan) that I think people have a problem with. Actually I'd be against Robben because of injuries.

I hope and think MLS will be at that level in the next 5-6 years, but can't see us getting Gotze like players until MLS adds a couple more DP spots or greatly increases the Cap.

I do think we should pillage Serie A for TAM/DP signings. Outside of Juve and a couple other clubs, the players are not paid well in Italia.

There is going to come a day when MLS signs a shocking name in his prime. It's only a matter of time.

I agree on Robben. Too injury prone. When healthy, he could be a Top 10 player in the world, but with our experience of borrowing Lampard, it would be a bad move.

You are spot on with your Serie A comments. I think we've seen that start with Nocerino and Giovinco.

For DP's next year, I think we should re-sign Villa but move him to left wing. Our offense would go from good to great if we get him a super skilled partner up front that plays as a target man.

For the third spot, I'd thank Pirlo for his contribution but move onto a slightly younger attacking midfielder who actually plays higher on the pitch. One Keisuke Honda, please. With AC Milan's ownership change and Honda's contract expiring the summer of 2017, there's a decent chance Honda is available over the winter. He's an extremely marketable player as well.

Finally, exhaust our TAM to bring in a new CDM (or retain Bravo), a new CB to force Brillant and Hernandez into a competition, and a new GK.

F: Villa - DP - Shelton (Harrison, Mendoza)
M: Honda - CDM - McNamara (Mix?, Poku?, Lopez)
D: Matarrita - Hernandez - CB - Allen (Brillant)
GK: Guzan (Saunders)

I mean, I don't dig people with his record.

I agree on Robben, but I would love to see what kind of relationship develops between him and the MLS refs.

I'm not saying the Vice squad would probably find him an interesting addition to the city, but....
Still pissed no one got my joke about his predator status from way back.

Keep him. I don't see him as a guy wiling to bleed for it here. Hell, he's a part time effort player now and that's for Bayern. We could just cut out the middle man and send checks weekly to a local massage parlor.

Just don't see how mix gets hate and pirlo doesn't. Pirlo plays no defense, mix does. His pass to Mcnamara was so amazing last night no one else could do it? Pirlo has not scored and has hurt us on free kicks compared to villa. Pirlo is way more expensive and uses a DP slot. It weird how much hate mix gets compared to others. And to compare him to lopez unfavorably? give me a break?

To be honest, you're always hating on Pirlo. I am a believer in Mix but maybe you are watching a different game. He's done very little here so far...but I love his hustle and would hate to see it come together for him on another team.

There's such a big spotlight on Pirlo that if the guy farts wrong, everyone calls it out. I'm not saying the guy's a world class talent right now, but he does much more good than bad, can play 90, doesn't get hurt, the younger guys look up to him, he's the point guard of the team, is starting to look good in a real system and consistent line up/formation. The guy went from playing next to Vidal & Pogba to Bravo & Lopez lol...in a baseball stadium no less. He's starting to come around and getting better...I can't say that about Mix though. If you want to tell me how much more Mix has contributed, I'd be more than happy to listen to your rebuttal.

Mix looks like he's suffering from a deficit in confidence. Only way to change that is to play more. Only way to play more is to play better. He can't play better without his confidence. Maybe he plays in Copa America and plays well, but I doubt it.
